A lovely, cosmopolitan city to visit. Helsinki is famous for its coffee culture, and we certainly appreciated it after a week on a ship. It was spring and strolling down Aleksanterinkatu to Senate Square at lunch time it was great to see so many locals taking their lunch breaks on the grass and benches under trees enjoying the fresh and and bright sunshine. It was a relaxed scene that fitted with the feel of the city as we walked around, visited the imposing Lutheran Cathedral, the market in Hakaniemi Square, the spectacular Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral, Finlandia Hall, and shopped in Mannerheimintie. We didn't really have any pre-conceived view of Helsinki and found the city and its friendly people delighted us at every turn.
