“A picture that costs 13€”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

That's true, the only reason why you should go in there is to take a picture. But it will cost you 13€ (10€ for the entrance and 3€ for the cloakroom.. what's the point in making you leave the jacket in the cloakroom and then give you a cape to enter the bar?). Furthermore, the bar is very small (8-9 m2) and there's no music, no place to sit, nothing that will let you stay there more then 5 to 10 minutes.

“Good photo opportunity.”
Reviewed January 17, 2012

Overpriced to be honest. Fine if you want to have a vodka and take a few pictures.Ok to go for a cool down if you are lucky to be experiencing a warm summer in Helsinki or indeed a warm up if you are experiencing a Helsinki winter. If you are a first time visitor to the city we really wouldnt bother if its a second or more visit then why not?But only to tick the box to say you have been.We have been visiting Finland and particularly Helsinki on business for nearly 7 years. It took 6 of those years for us to run out of attractions/bars/etc to come here.Hope that helps.

“Fun and unique tiny bar”
Reviewed December 25, 2011

Although the name may bring to mind visions of a huge ice castle complete with polar bears and fur-cloaked tourists, the Arctic Ice Bar is actually a tiny little bar within a massive bar complex (called "Popkellari") in downtown Helsinki. But it lives up to its name in that the walls are completely frozen, and all the bars and tables are actually made from ice!

NOTE: Once you get inside Popkellari, you need to pay 10€ to get into the Arctic Ice Bar (Just track down any employee and tell them you want to go the Ice Bar. They'll help you out if you're persistent enough!) but that fee includes one drink in the Ice Bar. (The drink selection is limited to a few vodka-based cocktails, but they're all surprisingly good!) Be sure to bring your camera as you'll definitely want to send some "Arctic photos" back home! (P.S. Heavy cloaks and mittens are available outside the bar entrance. I recommend using them even though the temperature is quite tolerable for a 10-15 minute visit.)
