I was at Hellsten Espoo for over 2 months while attending meetings/training on behalf of my company. Mind you this was the winter, and made my stay just a bit more un-enjoyable. Overall the standards were quite low for a country like Finland.
Location : The Hellsten is located on a hill, and as mentioned 10-15 minutes walk from the bus/railway station of Leppavara. But hauling your self up that hill is not a very pleasant task during the winter with winds cold as -25 or -30 blowing against your face. If you don't have a car, and have been unfortunate to arrive in the Winter you are going to hate every second of that 10 minute walk.
Apartment : As another traveler has mentioned. all the equipment in the apartment has been heavily used, Kitchen Utensils, toasters, dishes, the whole lot. The tiny kitchen is adequate to heat some food and not more than that. The bathroom is clean but too small and there are signs of heavy wear and tear on the bathroom fittings. The bed is quite comfy and nice.
The walls are very flimsy and at night you can hear all the sounds your neighbors make - including the sound of flushing toilets. The refrigerator is extremely noisy at times.
Cleanliness: The curtains in my room were quite soiled. The bed sheets are changed weekly and there were stains on them a couple of times as well. The rooms are somewhat dusty.
Sauna : Probably the best part of the whole hotel. Nice decent sauna.
Staff : Friendly and polite while not being overly helpful. But quite good service.
Overall : Not the most cheerful place I've been. I had to endure 2 months and was not at all sad when I left.
Internet : Hellsten has free wi-fi connection for all guests. But the speed is abysmal. Reminded me of the 56k modems we had decades back. Frustratingly slow at times. Very difficult to make a call via skype due to this.
Plus points : Decent Sauna, Helpful Staff, Decent TV.
Minus points : Too many as mentioned above. The rating of 3 I gave is because there is no 2.5
