“Nothing went wrong”

This used to be an attraction in Espoo. Not high enough anymore. The locals jubilate in Helsinki and the very locals are not welcome

“Unique view and that's it - maybe will be upgraded?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2011

This restaurant is two times in tripadvisor - with the name "Haikaranpesä" ("a" with dots; this review) and also with the name "Haikaranpesa" ("a" without dots). I copied my review here also. The other name ranks the place lower.

To me this is worth one visit with non-locals (e.g. business acquintances) for interest to see the nice view over Espoo area. The restaurant is on top of an old (and to my understanding working) watertower. The view is 360 degrees over Espoo and the archipelago. Buffet was rather plentiful but with the price one would expect something more. Also the place seemed to be from 60s, although that might change now: the watertower and the restaurant also is being renowated and will re-open somewhere in 2012 spring.

Might be well worth checking out and then using for business lunch in a bit non-usual setting. With some improvements and upgrades the place could be excellent. Remains to be seen - I will try and re-review later.

“Nice place to take your parents on a Sunday brunch with a spectacular view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2011

This restaurant is on top of an old water tower. The food is average, but for its price the buffet is okayish. It's slightly upper scale, so taking your parents there for a brunch is a good option.
Don't except gourmet though.

“Back to the 60th”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2011

You like grey concrete buildings? Here you are at the right place. They build a restaurant In a former watertower from the 60th. Great view over the Helsinki area and the baltic sea. So this is a unique place with a special atmosphere. But, the food is not very good. I ate at lunch time from the buffet. It doesn't had a fresh taste. The muscles were dry, the white fish, too. No lemon on the table and only a few salad sauces.
The desert was a disaster. I tried the apple pie and it was full with condensation water from the fridge.
The good thing about the Haikanranpesa: The service, very nice and gentle people there.
