We stayed here Sat 7th April, and were impressed by the helpful staff. We wanted to book some tours, and the girls there were too helpful in calling around for us, and translating when we couldn't understand. As the hotel was not too busy, we were able to check out late with no bother, and breakfast was included in the price. I have no hestitation in recomending this hotel for a short stay... Plus the beds are very comfortable after an overnight train!!!

Just got back from four nights in this hotel having stayed with my five year old daughter. It is small with friendly staff. The included buffet breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The hotel restaurant was ok with a decent selection of local food.
The room was small but clean and warm. The beds were comfortable. The location of the hotel is ideal being in the centre of town. A supermarket is almost opposite and it is close to the bus stop that takes you to the Santa park, as well as being only 5 mins away from the tour companies such as Artic Safaris.
Would stay again.

I just got back last night after spending three nights at the City Hotel, Rovaniemi and what a great little hotel it is!

My room was medium in size and very nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable.

The hotel has a restaurant/bar on the ground floor, the 'Monte Rosa', which is also open to non residents. Breakfast is also served here. I ate dinner at the Monte Rosa every night, simply because the food is superb and very reasonably priced! For the adventurous, they even have reindeer on the menu, which is actually very tasty. The friendly waiter assured me that it's the best restaurant in town, although I can't confirm or deny this as I didn't eat anywhere else, although I guess that says something in itself!

Breakfast was included in the nightly rate of 69 Euro, and to be honest, you can fill up so well on the buffet-style offering that there really is no need for lunch! Lots of salad options, breads, cereals, fruit, fish dishes (including salmon) and several hot dishes including meatballs, sausages, pancakes and a baked savoury egg dish topped with bacon/cheese/peppers (the topping seemed to change daily).

For those that are interested, there's a sauna available for guest's use, with separate times available for men and women (sorry, no mixed saunas here!).

They have a very nice reception area that also has a cafe (also open to non residents), and there are two PC's with free internet access for use by hotel residents only. There's a large open fireplace in the middle of the lounge area, which I would imagine is great for during the bitter cold winter months (in May they just have a tasteful arrangement of candles in the fireplace!).

The hotel and restaurant staff were all extremely helpful, friendly and courteous and all spoke either good or fluent English.

There is free parking in a car park adjacent to the hotel.

Interestingly, the two lifts (elavators) could only be operated by inserting your room key into a slot inside the lift, which seemed like a good security arrangement. However, they are the kind of lifts that don't have an internal sliding door, which means that the shaft is open to the inside of the lift when in motion. I remember many years ago when those types of lifts were popular in Spanish hotels that there was a big move to get internal doors fitted - several accidents had been caused by people getting clothing caught between the cabin and the shaft. Please don't let that put you off, after all, common sense prevails in these situations. Just something to watch out for in what otherwise is a great hotel.
