We stayed one night at the City Hotel and we found it to be a great hotel. Friendly staff, great room and comfy bed. The location is fantastic as it across the road from the main shopping mall and within walking distance to most city sites.
The downstairs bar is also great for a cheap meal and drink after your Article adventures!
Breakfast buffet has all the normal options for a hearty breakfast but be warned, food starts to run out approaching the end of service and this is normally the busiest time.

Stayed here three nights in December. Excellent breakfast buffet. Good food in restaurant at night but pricey. Free internet is unreliable - slow and frequent interruptions to connection. Faster internet is available for 5 euros per 24 hours but did not try it.
Staff friendly and helpful throughout hotel and stay.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms seemed to be a good size and quiet.

We stayed in a deluxe room on the second floor.
No noise problem. Warm enough. Good hot shower. Welcome chocolate and complimentary water, coffee and tea.
Good location, within walking distance to restaurants and shopping place.
Really small room, supposedly to look larger with a mirror on entire wall. Modern decoration.
Well provision of toilet amenities, shower gel, body lotion, shampoo conditioner, slippers, hair dryer. A very nice bathtub.
See through bathroom. You can look inside the bathroom from your bed via a totally transparent glass. Reception would be willing to help you cover it up if you need to.
Very friendly staff at reception. Very willing to help in answering questions and try to have a good relationship with customers.
Nice standard breakfast.

Very welcoming hotel central to everywhere we wanted to go. Friendly, helpful staff, The rooms were very tiny (almost claustrophobic), and too warm. The free breakfast was great and the dinner at the restaurant was outstanding.

Room Tip: Pay for the upgrade for a larger room.

We were expecting so much more because of the reviews, and were disappointed to the point of changing hotels after 1 night, which we have rarely ever done. First, if you like a vinyl padded door and gold flecked smokey mirrors that go along the entire wall, then this would be ok for you. The room is so small that the bed is nearly against the wall...we continually bumped into each other while getting ready and are not big people. The bathroom was so small that the spray from the shower continually hit the toilet...one other thing, Finns commonly have a spray wand for use at the toilet, and this wand was placed adjacent at the level of the top of the sink because of tight quarters... I found it disgusting to brush my teeth so close to it. As far a noise, we were on floor 1 and suffered through intermittent banging (maybe from the kitchen) and street noise much of the night.
On the positive, the staff was friendly and a nice breakfast was included.
Regarding location....the city is just an average city not such a place you would choose to spend time in. The beauty there is the scenery.... Best advice- Rent a car, stay outside of town and take a beautiful drive up into the Arctic Circle viewing reindeer, lakes, cute cottages, etc.
