Arrived at Apukka Aurora Borealis cabin not so impressed as it made out to be. Nothing special fr the price that was paid, over priced slightly and so are the activities. Checking into the cabin they were trying to sell me things straight away such as a sauna etc.

The cabin has no sauna as it's outside but you have to pay €100+ for 1 hour use. Inside the cabin it is equipped with 2 beds facing the big open view window (we were lucky as it faced the lake which was nice.) It also had a sofa bed that converted into a double bed and a bathroom with shower. The shower can only be used in small amounts as the water take 2-4hours to warm up.

A mini bar is found also equipped with tea and coffee and also hot chocolate along with a kettle. A little annoying that they provide all these drinks but no milk.

Our Aurora Borealis cabin included a buffet breakfast which you could help yourself to including drinks.

They offered us clean towels on the second day of being their which is useful.

Overall it was an average experience, bit limiting as to what you can do in the cabins as there is no kitchen. It's not recommended for disabled people as you can't park car near the cabin as they don't allow it / can't clear the snow to make space. There are better value and higher quality hotels offering cabins such as Nova Skyland.

Dear Seb,
We regret that your visit didn't correspond to your all expectations. The Aurora cabins are equipped with standard size hot water boilers that are commonly used in Finland. In normal use, there is hot water available for four people at a time. However, we have started to consider all these issues right away and we have already done a lot of small improvements and adjustments in our Aurora Cabins. Finally, we would like to thank you about your detailed feedback which is really important for us in development of our resort.

Best regards,
Apukka Resort Team

I got a great feeling when the resort picked us up in Rovaniemi. It was Elena, one of the staff who picked us up. Felt like old friend picking us up. Arriving in the resort was great also. The building is an old beautiful building. The room was comfortable, except the wall was thin so it was noisy since we can hear people talking, kids playing or anybody walking outside the room.
I had a great Finnish Sauna experience in this resort, and also had a chance to see Northern light.
Another downside was the restaurant. Its not a full service restaurant so for dinner (and maybe lunch) they only serve buffet. No alcohol (beer etc) serve in this restaurant. Perhaps they could upgrade the restaurant service in the future.

poor service we stayed in 4 for 5 nights and after paying 560 euros per night they tell us that the rearrangement of the room is not included and is payable. the doors of the apartment do not close and therefore everything has remained open with valuable objects in the house. the curtains are shorter than the windows so anyone can look at you at home forcing you to stay dressed with a very high indoor temperature. too expensive for the service offered is not worth it.

Hello Luca B.,
We are sorry about that your visit didn't correspond to your expectations. Usually the rearrangement of the room is not included in normal room price because all the rooms and the apartments are unique and they differ from each other. For example, better equipped rooms or bigger apartments cost a little bit extra. Besides, in the high season it may be challenging to rearrange the room when the resort is completely fully booked. We have also checked all the locks and those work in a proper way. Our staff will gladly assist all our guests if they need some help with all kind of practical issues like locking system or room temperature etc. Finally, we would like to thank you about your feedback which is really important for us in development of our resort.

Best Regards,

The accommodation (Aurora Cabin) is everything you would expect from this region, very clean, minimal, cosy and warm. We were a family of 4 with 2 boys aged 11 and 12 and the room space was sufficient, but did require us to be tidy and organised with clothing/ wet boots and ski gear etc. Not sure if 4 adults would be comfortable - needs more storage space.

The staff were charming and could not do enough for us - also very open to suggestions on ways to improve and develop the resort.

The boys had unlimited free rides on the kids skidoos, There were loads of sledges available for the boys to play on, opportunities to make ice sculptures and we loved the outdoor open fire to stand around in the evenings. There were also purpose built sledging runs which were fun.The traditional sauna was amazing, beautifully constructed.

The resort is a little out of Rovaniemi City, but not far from the airport. We used a taxi to get in and out of the city with ease, be aware taxi's are expensive in this region.

The food at the resort was a traditional buffet style fare, with salmon, reindeer soups and pies, rye breads and plenty of blueberries! Simple, traditional and good quality food, which we all enjoyed.

This is a very new resort and of course there will always be areas to develop and improve on. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were very keen for feedback and how they could improve the resort. We had a great experience and I would love to return to this beautiful area and stay at Apukka Resort again.

We booked 5 nights at this “resort” at 300 euro a night for a cabin. It was billed as a newly opened resort so we expected everything would be shiny and new. Boy, were we wrong!! This place looks like it was built in the 1930s and never renovated. The place was so bad we left after three nights without any reimursement for the two nights remaining. When we arrived we were absolutely shocked by the very cheap very sterile lodging. The cabin had absolutely no character to it at all, it felt like staying in an abandoned shack. No furnishings, cheap bed lousy kitchen. The bathroom was dirty when we arrived and no toilet paper. No phone so I had to walk over to reception to get toilet paper which was given without apology. The breakfast included with the price is canteen quality and the dinner priced at 30 euro was even worse. Besides the food and the cabin, the resort looks like an abandoned camp ground with no free activities to speak of. One night we booked the overnight camping trip in the forest in what is billed as a comfortable, fully equipped cabin on wheels and for which they charge 260 euros. The cabin was a torture chamber...small and cramped with heating which on low was so hot we had to keep the window open and withstand -20 winds to avoid being suffocated by the heat. This place is truly a rippoff with a absolutely no redeeming qualities. This place rates zero stars at best.
