The Pahtajärvi Trail starts from Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. This little used hiking trail is a bit over 18 kilometers long and it takes about 4-6 hours. The route is marked with blue marks.
The gorge lake of Pahtajärvi is the highlight of this hiking trail. The gorge is less than 100 meters wide but it is over 1 kilometer long and 25 meters deep. The other interesting natural sight is Hiekkatievat, a beautiful ridge with sand dunes.
Notice that there aren't any services on the route. So remember to take drinking water and something to eat with you. The Pahtajärvi Lapp hut was closed during summer but the lean-to shelter of Närpistö with a campfire was in use. Firewood is available but you need own matchsticks.
We grilled sausages under the midnight sun at the campfire of Närpistö. It was an immemorial moment which I will never forget.More
