After reading many early reviews I was expecting to be going hungry, but it was far from that. In fact the food was superb and there was plenty of it. I went equipped with masses of munchies and came home with it all! If you find you want a snack there is a good size supermarket directly opposite the hotel. I would suggest taking your own travel kettle & hair dryer as neither of these are supplied in the room. The staff are really helpful and go out their way to make your trip one to remember. The hotel is quite warm, especially at night so take some light PJ’s. No one really dresses up either, so just your nice casual stuff!

Things to take: Tripod, disposable hand warmers, torch, face oil (rather than water based creams), hair dryer, alarm clock, kettle & instant hot chocolate.

Stayed here whilst visiting Santa in Lapland. Not the poshest of hotels, but comfortable, clean and welcoming. The Transun staff were great with children, taking them for games in the evening and for crafts during the day. The hotel staff were quiet and limited English, but my Finnish is zero, so can't complain. The rooms were sparse but clean and suited our needs perfectly. The food, although did not look particularly appetising, was actually very nice and we had no complaints at all. The "Festive" dinner was lovely even though we found out we were eating "Rudolph" but very tasty indeed. Handily, across from the hotel was a supermarket if anything else required. Our family enjoyed it here and we would recommend it. One of our family members had been before to Lapland and commented that this hotel was by far better than the one she had stayed in previously!

Just travelled to Lapland with Transun and stayed at the Jussantupa, and have had a stunning few days, from the trips - Snow mobiles, Reindeer Sleighs, Forest trekking, Ice castle visits and Huskies through to seeing the most stunning display of Northern Lights the area has seen for a while. We saw displays of the piano ( moving lights like the keys, the bright neon greens swirling around the skies and many many more). The hotel is simple and cosy with hearty food served for breakfast lunch and dinner, typical things were cereal and hot buffet for breakfast, soup, a hot dinner and then a mousse/ yoghurt dessert and a similar thing for dinner, enough to keep you stocked against the freezing temperatures ranging from -7 through to a chilling -38! The staff were really friendly and helpful, but like other have said the bar is a bit expensive but with a supermarket opposite this wasn't a great problem. Transun were brilliant from the moment we touched down on a icy runway with out any problems through to us leaving the cute airport terminal, our rep Kai, along with Peter and Quincy really made the trip and nothing was too much trouble for them. They came along with you on all the trips and answered any questions you many have absolute super stars! Here's some handy hints... If your going for a few days you get your thermal suits just after you get there, so you do need a warm coat and sensible shoes to get over to the suit place, over the road from the hotel, but not a great need to splash out on a super coat for the trip, as you wear the suit when ever you need to go out of the hotel, whether it be to explore Hetta or for a trip. If your looking to purchase a camera to capture the Northern Lights, make sure you get one that can sustain cold temperatures, as a lot of our groups cameras froze! Also you need a camera with a high ISO and low shutter speed to have any chance of capturing the lights if your lucky enough to see them! The hotel has free sledges that you can borrow and take to the hills around and about, and mittens are the only way you keep your hands warm with at least a couple of pairs underneath.... it really is that cold. Take as many thermal layers as you can, as it really is that cold! There is an Ice castle just down from the hotel where you can get a cheap taxi to and explore - this isn't a transun trip. All the Transun trips were super and really well organised. All in all a brilliant few days that will leave us with memories forever!

To call the Jussantupa hotel an hotel is rather a stretch of the imagination. If it was called a good B&B would be nearer the point. As it is located in Hetta (pop. 700) - next stop North Pole - you can't expect a Marriott, Hilton ot Holiday Inn Express BUT with the school dinner meals (although hot and plentiful) the rooms badly lit, sparsely furnished and a bathroom that one of Santa's elves would have trouble fitting in it was a case of this is what there is take it or leave it. I have to say the staff were helpful and pleasant although lacking in a knowledge of English and asking for a toilet roll for our room was quite a challenge. The hotel and rooms were clean - you had to make your own beds each day and towels were only changed upon request. As most people there were on a Transun Xmas trip to either see Santa or the Northern Lights everyone enjoyed themselves as we were out and about most of the time and after being out in -29C for an hour or two we were very grateful to return to a warm hotel. The Transun staff were very helpful and pleasant.

I was a liitle apprehensive about my trip to Lapland in December 2010 with transun after reading the reviews,I have to say that if they are true then Transun have improved 100% this year. The Hotel was clean as were the rooms, the food was adequate, and there was plenty of it.The reps were friendly and helpful, even after the head rep Mark was involved in a road accident and had to be taken to hospital in a helicopter. All in all very good value for 500 quid

Had a five day trip with Transun 6th-10th Dec 10 . Had a great time doing all the inclusive bits except lots of hanging around. Hotel very, very average, food mediocre great if you want the kids to eat chips, frankfurters, fish fingers or mince sticks! of course they could opt for the adult food but without the written description you weren't sure what that was and just about hot! Booze very expensive 11 euro's for 2 not very good beers! 3 euro's for a pot of tea for 2. Go to supermarket across the road and buy decent beer for 2.75 and sit it in the snow for 10 minutes! No more or it will freeze! No hot drinks included in your price except for meal times. Staff in restaurant very, very, very slow to clear tables and as they are mainly of the large family 8-12 size finding a clean one at times can be frustrating. Sauna between 3pm and 5pm only unless you want to pay extra and you are not in the hotel much around this time anyway.
