“Classy”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

I had a business dinner in the highly acclaimed restaurant and we were not disappointed. The food is very good but a bit too "technical" for my personal taste. The wine list on its own is well worth a visit. The Sommelier is highly engaged and energetic. However the restaurant is understaffed for its ambitions.

“Tasty modern scandinavian”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

Excellent food in a well-composed tasting menu. Classic decor, appropriate pricing. The rubarb dessert was divine, as were the raw north sea shrimps. Small niggle: Slightly understaffed - we had to remind our waiter a few times to refill our wine glasses.
Bill for 3 adults for the 7 course tasting menu, 2 bottles of wine & 1 a la carte main & dessert for my 5 year old daughter came to just under SEK 4000 - not cheap, but perfectly adequate for the quality of the meal.

“My favourite place for fancy Afterwork”
Reviewed May 28, 2012 via mobile

I have visited Bjorns Bar on numerous occasions, but never Kock&Vin which some reviews seems to refer to.
Bjorns Bar is perfect for groups of friends, when someone wants an entire meal, while others might just want some cheese/olives or a small appetizer. They change their menu quite regularly, which is nice so you can return and try something new. Good wine list, and ok selection of beers.
The staff is great, very helpful and friendly. It does tend to fill up rather quickly, and they don't take reservations afaik, so get there early on Fridays especially.

“Elegant dining in friendly atmosphere”
Reviewed April 21, 2012

So finally we came to Kock & Vin. When in Gothenburg, we often frequented our great favourite Thörnströms Kök but this time we decided to try much recommended Kock & Vin. The Swedish restaurant Guide White Guide had nominated this restaurant as one of three for the prize as this year's food experience (2012) so we had high expectations. First, I think it is good to know that Kock & Vin is an elegant restraurant with, say 15-20 tables, while Bjorns Bar is bar or tapas place downstairs with same owner - two different things, which you will probably notice when reading some of the reviews. So, our review is for Kock & Vin, the elegant dining rooms. That established we can say that the restaurant delivered! Yes, we had high expectations. And yes they were fulfilled. Perfect, friendly service. Perfect wine-pairing. Beautiful and well tasting food. There were a la carte and three menus, of different size, containing the same dishes but in varying number. So we opted for "Sinnenas meny" which was the medium one, 6 courses plus extras. Photos will tell you more about that. So this is a very good restaurant, perfect for entertaining or romance, or dining with food interested friends. Some of the dishes showed the influence of our favourite restaurant, Noma, in Copenhagen. Nothing wrong in that, they were beautiful and the taste was excellent! Even if Noma is always better than all else!!

“great cheese and small foods”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

we orderes small tapas dishes and a thereafter a main course. Very good service, but I retract one star because we were suggested to take a full dish after eating our tapas starters. This felt like a sell hard approach by the waiter, as we experienced this on another place in gothenburg too. They ask you if this is your first time, and if you say yes, they try to over sell. However, the waiter was informative and told us about the meals and knew a lot about the food and wine we wanted. We had a really nice time even though we were recommended to go for a full dish after a lot of tapas-dishes. I will absolutely recommend coming here again to anyone. a main dish costs around 155 SEK and we found it to be quite good. We will be back!
