Description: Thörnströms Kök (Kitchen) opened 30 April 1997. Fourteen years later, we received our Michelin star. We have over 55 seats in the restaurant, a discreet chambre separée for 8 people and our Chefs bar with 9 seats for drop in. Thörnströms Kök offers modern Scandinavian and regional cooking. Our work with the art of cuisine is in constant development. The inspiration is endless and with our creative people the delights of the table reach great heights - heavenly heights, maybe we can say with a star in our pantry. Thörnströms Kök is owned by Anne and Hakan Thörnström who runs the restaurant together with executive chef Billal Andersson, restaurant manager Maja Hempel and senior restaurant manager Peter Halldén.

A small and intimate restaurant which is well worth its Michelin star.

We choose the French themed 6 course tasting menu paired with wine. The food was beautifully served and presented. The staff were exceptionally knowledgeable about the food and wine.

Appetizers were served in between course which made 6 courses feel like 9!

Such is the experience and being Sweden you get what you pay for, that being excellent food and top quality service. If you enjoy high end gastronomy then this must be on your list.

This place is always very good. They serve excellent food with great wine selection accompanying the different dishes. Fish is marvellous, the appetizers small wonders with really good home baked bread served to it. Atmospehere relaxed despite this is one of the top end places in the city and staff is very friendly without becoming too obsesed with the mechanical storytelling about the dishes. It is wise to make a reservation because prices are modest for the category. Only slip is last time when the main dish served was too limited in size

A small and cosy restaurant, with the friendliest and most professional staff
You get a lot of extra "bonus" dishes between the meals as a treat, and the food they serve is the best food I've had in my life, but it's definitely worth every KRONA,,,,,

A small and cosy restaurant, with the friendliest and most professional staff I've come across in Gothenburg. You get a lot of extra "bonus" dishes between the meals as a treat, and the food they serve is the best food I've had in my life! I know it's pricey, but it's definitely worth every penny!

Thörnströms Kök recently celebrated its 15 years' anniversary. For most of the time, this has been the very best restaurant in Gothenburg in our view, and many others. Competition is stiff, from Kock & Vin and Fond as well as others, but we are true Thörnströms fans. The food has become even more Scandinavian in its style, with a lot of focus on top quality seafood, but you can also find succulent, slow cooked meat dishes. A broad variety of mini-sized breadrolls is always offered - a perfect extra. When you arrive - and be sure to make a reservation beforehand - you are met at the door, or just inside, by the restaurant manager, the sommelier or Håkan himself, taking care of your outer garments. You are greeted as guests to a family home. It starts with something to drink, this time a hot, fresh apple juice with cinnamon. Super good! After a while in the bar, you are escorted to your table in one of the two dining rooms. These have now been refurbished into lighter colours, very tasteful and elegant. There are three set menus to choose between, as well as a la carte dishes. Our party of four went for the Scandinavian menu. We had a slight problem since one of us didn't want fish for main course, but that was no problem for the kitchen. The restaurant manager swiftly agreed to change to a slow cooked meat dish instead. The same person, into the meal, found herself not able to eat the dessert, but was pleased to note that she got her coffee and coffee sweets at the same time as the rest of the party had their desserts - and that the price of the dessert and dessert wine had been deducted from the bill (in spite of being included in the set menu price) - natural to some, but proof of extra service and flexibility to us! So first we had several small amuse bouche, all excellent. The menu consisted of Charcoal grilled crayfish with carrot terrine, chives emulsion and cress followed by
Baked celeriac with onion broth, parsley crème and roasted venison leg and after that a main course of Seared cod loin with cod roe, pearl barley flavoured with matured cheese, fennel lardo and red wine jus, a pre dessert to clean the palate and then the dessert of Milk chocolate sorbet with pear dounut, pear chutney, vanilla and nougat panna cotta. All is top quality, of course! Beautiful works of art, fanciful but not over-creative or extreme. Just super delicious! Wine pairings when choosing the wine menu was also perfect! Coffee followed, with four small coffee sweats. Splitting the bill into two halves was no problem for them either, another small but important sign of flexibility and service. Taxi was called for us and arrived promptly. When in Gothenburg - Thörnströms is a must!!
