“Fantastic Stay”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

Room was huge (full apartment!). As it was Midsummer, a full dinner was provided in the lobby which was great. Wished we'd stayed a few more nights! Free use of washer/dryer. Elevators have the fastest doors I have ever seen.

Stayed in an appratment for two nights. The location is quite convenient close to the train station, though I might have prefered to stay more in the middle of Avenyn next time (e.g. Hotel Avalon). However we appreciated the afternoon snack and the evening buffet. The size and cleanliness of the room was good. There was not really any noise from the trainstation even if our room was facing the trains (4th floor). Rooftop bar in summer.

Convenient to park in the garage in the basement.

This was a very nice trip large part due to the hotel!

It was a really nice trip.

Everyone says Sweden is so expensive but we did not find that to be the case! Our room was roughly 150-160USD a night BUT included a HUGE breakfast AND..........AND DINNER! Massive meals. Also afternoon tea/cake service and coffee and tea out at all times --the good kinds not pot brewed coffee or just plain tea but a big variety!

Also, the room had a nice big closet, shelves, hanging rack, iron and board.

The kitchenette had a microwave, a sink, a hot pot with cocoa, coffee, teas and condiments. The refrigerator was of reasonable size and kept a nice temperature.

The CD player was a bonus but wish we had brought CD's. No iPod dock on it but that was of no concern.

TV had a few English channels which was nice.

Very comfortable beds and a nice BIG room with sitting area with a table and 2 comfy chairs. We brought our breakfast back to the room to eat --there was plenty of room!

Double pane windows to avoid hearing the trains. We could not hear them AT ALL.

The staff was genuinely friendly. We wished we had stayed there longer!

It was literally 5 minutes from the main bus station and we were able to take a shuttle from the airport for roughly 10USD each way or about 18USD round trip (20-30 min ride) on a nice bus that is JUST for the airport shuttle so nice luggage rack things in there too!

Room Tip: 237 is the lucky room! big light windows, right near the front desk yet quiet and out of the way

We appreciated everything about the hotel: location near the train station but with double paned windows so we heard no train noise; beautifully appointed suite, with full kitchen and lots of well-designed storage area; free laundry for guest use; excellent breakfast and also tasty free evening meal. The staff were across the board friendly and helpful (and could speak English) -- housekeeping staff as well as those at the desk. We were able to leave our luggage in a locked room after check out, to allow us to explore for a half-day before our evening train to Oslo, and when we picked it up still felt welcome to enjoy a half hour of free wifi, along with the free coffee, tea and hot chocolate (and brownies!)

We got to stay (thanks to having accumulated Choice Privileges points) in a suite originally deigned as a corporate apartment (as the hotel information describes--noting that the building originally housed the Ford Motor Co. offices in the 1930s). The apartment was wonderfully spacious and beautiful, complete with wood floors, leather furniture, large windows (with blackout curtains for summer) and a full kitchen. We liked Gothenburg a lot, doing a great deal (got the "go:" card for discount admissions/travel for 24 hours) during our short weekend stay, and would gladly return--and most certainly to the Clarion Collection Odin. We stayed in four different Clarion Collection properties during a three-week trip to Scandinavia, and liked this one best of all!

Spent 3 nights here and it was a great hotel! Close to the train station, to the mall Nordstan, to Liseberg amusement park and to the main street. We got a big rom with comfortable beds, a lot of space and two comfortable chairs, in addition to the bed. The bathroom was also very big and everything was clean. The breakfast was very good, with no shortage of food. The staff was polite and helpful. I would absolute recommend this hotel.

Spent two nights here, and was very pleasantly surprised. We chose it due to its proximity to the train station (less than 5 minute walk). We didnt have an apartment, so our room was twin with bathroom. The bathroom was clean and roomy, and the heated floor was appreciated. Our main room was large, comfortable beds plus flatscreen tv (good reception) and two small arm chairs. Would be better if it had a small fridge. Room was quite warm and aircon not adjustable, but even though we were facing the railway we hardly heard any noise with the windows open during the night.
We loved the breakfast and dinner buffet, both of which were included in our room rate. Great selection of food and good quality, for a big hotel we didnt find it crowded at all. We also took advantage of the tea and coffee making facilities, and the fruit and sweets on offer all day. We actually didnt spend a cent on food and drink during our stay, but did see that its quite expensive to dine out in gothenburg. Also enjoyed sitting outside in the terrace with a coffee, and some cheese and biscuits from the buffet. There is also a bar, but like the rest of the region, was very expensive.
As i mentioned, a stones throw from central train and bus stations, 2 mins from tram and within walking distance of anything you want to see in gothenburg. Staff were friendly and helpful, although we arrived on a sunday and there was only one staff member manning both the reception desk and the bar, so we did have to wait a bit. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. Best value hotel in sweden!

Arrived after a long drive from Jonkoping only to be told that as the hotel was inundated with teenagers attending the Gothia Cup our room was not ready despite being booked well in advance. Unbelievably the staff at check in suggested we go shopping until our room was ready. To cut a long story short we finally got in to our room at 9PM after 4 attempts at check in only to find it had no outside windows and overlooked the very noisy atrium area. You could not open a window for air it was that noisy. After months of complaining the hotel finally gave us a voucher for a free night at any Clarion hotel, but in Scandinavia only. I would have preferred a refund for the night in question (we were there 3 nights). The hotel was totally overstretched from front desk to housekeeping because they had overbooked rooms for the Gothia Cup and woe betide anyone who was not there for that.

Room Tip: Make sure you do not overlook the interior atrium area, you will have no outside window.
