Me and my partner stayed for only one night at the Clarion Post Hotel but I would've liked to stay longer.

This hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels that I've ever stayed at. The room were nicely decorated and had everything you needed. The bed was soft and cozy with a iphone-dockstation with speeker at the side of the bed. Big TV with movierent and many channels.

We arrived pretty late and the restaurant at the hotel was fully booked, but the receptionist were very helpful and got us a table at a nice restaurant nearby.

The breakfast-buffay had a wide range of organic food and I don't think I've ever had so much breakfast :P

I can't wait to go back and use all of the facilities that I didn't have time to use this time. I've heard that the SPA is amazing :)

Even when you approach the hotel, you know you're in for a special stay. I visited just days before Christmas and the hotel was wrapped in a big bow like a sparkling present. The old building is beautiful with a large, taller contemporary building behind it.

The entrance is large and high ceilinged with a comfortable, stylish and chic bar to the left and sleek reception to the right.

The bar has various sections, from those lined with walls covered in dark oak book shelves and deep leather sofas, to firm velvet covered chairs that pivot around low glass tables. There is a large dining area for breakfast with a selection of tables, serving a huge array of dishes. There are cereals, fruits, yoghurts, cured meats, breads, pastries, cheeses, sausages, bacon, pancakes and more. There is also tea, coffee, orange juice, apple juice and water.

The room we stayed in (standard twin) was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable with soft, fluffy pillows and fresh warm sheets and duvet. There is a cupboard of good size with a mini bar within, although no safe anywhere. The room has a huge plasma television with free WiFi service, a good selection of channels, room service and more. The bathroom is clean and tidy, the facilities simple but effective. There are plenty of towels and glasses and a handy 3-in-1 shower/shampoo/soap wash in the shower/bath.

The staff were amazing. Their English was exceptional and all of them were very accommodating and friendly. We couldn't have asked for more!

The hotel's location is great. It is at the top of the city but is a great starting place for any day's sightseeing. Most of the city is within easy walking distance (around 20 minutes at a leisurely pace) but there are also trams right outside the hotel as well as a taxi rank (although taxis are very expensive in Gothenburg).

As it was winter we did not use the pool and didn't have time to use the gym, however we spoke to a couple who had used the gym facilities who raved about them.

I cannot comment on pricing as I was able to stay for free, however I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.

Hotel Post was exactly what Göteborg needed when it opened last year; an international hotel of size with a boutique concept where exquisite amenities and ambitious facilities cater both to guests from afar as well as locals. Hotel Post lies in the heart of the city – adjacent to the central station – which makes it an obvious choice for visitors arriving and departing via train or bus.

The hotel's lobby, restaurants and many of the rooms reside in what used to be an enormous, century old post office building – hence the name. Behind the main structure is a new tower housing several floors with hotel rooms and Hotel Post's rooftop, year-round heated pool. If you're here during the winter, I definitely recommend a swim. It's quite the experience. And the view is awesome.

It's hard to get a grip of the hotel's overall design concept. There is no obvious aesthetic thread – each public area offers something different, often eye-catching and sometimes even provocative. Director Peter Greenaway's elaborate film sets come to mind as do the oversized furniture from Alice in Wonderland. However, there are also design choices reminiscent of a cruise ship from 1983 – including an almost absurdly extensive use of mirrors, glass and chrome.

The stylistic shifts from one area to the next make you wonder how many different decorators and architects were actually involved in this gigantic make-over. Perhaps this diversity was part of the vision. But as far as I could tell, the only constant was the lighting, which on the other hand, created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, regardless of where you were at Hotel Post.

A dinner at Norda, the premier dining room on the second floor, is a must. After enjoying Göteborg bred, New York based chef Marcus Samuelsson's venture at Red Rooster in Harlem, I yearned to experience and was once again pleased by his conceptual contribution to Norda. The menu offers relatively few choices, but the four dishes we chose came in generous portions and tasted fantastic.

Our deluxe room was spacious, thoughtfully decorated and equipped with all the amenities we needed – and then some. Huge windows offered a spectacular wide angle view of downtown Göteborg without letting noise from the city's hustle and bustle disturb our beauty sleep. Internet access is included in the room rate and you can connect as many devices as you wish. At least until the 24hr voucher expires and you have to reregister again.

The breakfast buffet offers an absolutely fabulous selection of fresh fruits, cold cuts, bakery goodies and breads, as well as a good range of hot dishes – including crispy bacon, pancakes and porridge. Everything is tastefully presented and rapidly replenished. Not sure if barista grade coffee was available, but the coffee machine produced a surprisingly good cup of java. Would of been nice with fresh fruit juice and I was a little disappointed about not being able to enjoy a slice or two of smoked salmon with my cream cheese on toast.

I never tried the spa at Hotel Post, but I did spend an hour or so at the gym which is spread across three separate, sufficiently equipped rooms – including a spacious one for free-form training. The two other rooms had a good selection of cardio stations and Technogym's kinetic machines to exercise on. The water cooler was out of order during my visit (December, 2012) and there was no bottled water in its place. A stack of towels would have also been nice.

In conclusion, I'd say this is one of Sweden's finest hotels and after having stayed at several other premium hotels in town, I think Hotel Post is by far the best of the best in Göteborg.

Last but definitely not least, the service. Everyone I interacted with was genuinely friendly and accommodating – without exaggerating their politeness to a superficial level. This is after all, Göteborg, where arguably the friendliest Swedes live.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Drottingtorget. Make reservations beforehand to Norda.

Very nice hotel. The interior is modern, stylish and comfortable common areas such as bar, gym, breakfast area etc.... Very nice people...
This hotel would have been absolutely perfect if:
1. There had been drawers in the room - absolutely no space for socks and so...
2. In 5 days - only one refill of the amenities - even in the superior room..
3. Excellent with Nescafé and tea in the room - but how to stir the sugar without spoon (used the nd of my tooth brush)...
4. Cleaning limited to make the bed... In most hotels they make more of an effort arranging things in the bathroom etc...

Room Tip: We were staying on the 6th floor in the old section - very good - very silent, but I think all rooms...

Dear Swiss,
Happy to hear that you liked the Hotel and interior design. Thank you for the tip. We do not like that we did not meet your high anticipations overall this time. One should expect high service level when you visit Clarion Hotel Post amenities should be filled, cleaning should be done every day including arranging “things in the bathroom”. Reviews are important to us even though we could have scored a little better this time. So if you have any further information´s please do not hesitate to contact us.

Anyone heading for Gothenburg should not consider staying anywhere else than at the Clarion Hotel Post. The converted old main Posthouse in Gothenburg now hosts one of the latest additions to the growing Clarion family, and it is a good one. Rooms are roomy, service excellent and the breakfast great.

The hotel is just a 2 minute walk from the main train station in the city center of the lovely town ogf Gothenburg. Congratulation all Gothenburger's, finally you have a hotel to match your fine city

Stayed here early December for a conference. All staff I dealt with (reception, bar, porter, conference manager) were first class. Great location for transport and shopping - the reception staff gave very clear and helpful advice on where to go and how to get there, including the Liseborg Christmas Market and local shopping centre. Room very comfortable - only niggle is the TV takes a very long time, almost a minute!, to start up. Food in the restaurant and breakfast buffet is excellent - best hotel coffee I have had in a long time. I would advise booking a table in the restaurant though, unlikely to get a table at busy times if you just turn up, but the staff look after you very well.

If I get the chance to return to Gothenburg I would definitely stay at the Clarion Post again.

Room Tip: The odd numbered rooms face the street, even numbers face inside the hotel.

Amazing decor and atmosphere! Dark, stylish and cozy. Lots of nice areas to sit and have a drink and relax. I felt so at home!
The room was very well appointed and clean. The bedcover even felt clean which is rare. Loved the huge pillows! We only had a standard room, but it was far better than most hotels we had stayed at. Even luxury hotels. The only negative is that there is no heating in the bathroom.
Breakfast was by far the best we have had. Huge selection, great quality and well presented. As previous reviewers have mentioned they have had sine logistic problems with breakfast, but this seems to have been solved as we had breakfast at peak hours and didn't experience any problems.
Very good service from everyone from front desk to room service.
Keep up the good work, we'll definately will be back soon!
