Owner description: Welcome to one of the largest botanical gardens in Northern Europe. The cultivated part occupies 40 acres and holds about 12 000 species. It is a botanical garden with a strong emphasis on horticulture and the garden is divided into different sections linked by lawns with fine trees and shrubs. You will find a kitchen garden, a herb garden, perennial and annual borders, a Japanese glade, a rhododendron valley and a stunning rock garden with a waterfall. In the bulb garden you find species that are not grown anywhere else. The Greenhouses have more than 4 000 species including a large collection of orchids and carnivorous plants. The Eastern Island tree, extinct in its natural locality, is preserved here. The garden is bordering a nature reserve where also the arboretum is located.

We were a group of international friends, and we spent a really good time together in a sunny morning walking around the Botaniska Tradgarden (Botanical Garden) in Gothenburg. It's an amazing place with beautiful flowers, plants and trees. The Botaniska Tradgarden is very organized and it seems to be conserved in a carefull way by commited professionals. My advice: go there and have your own experience!

My husband and I spent a leisurely Saturday morning wandering in the Botanical Garden and were very pleasantly surprised. It was an oasis of calm trails and beautiful flowers and plants. We especially enjoyed the Japanese garden and the greenhouse. There was a nice café there with quite a bit of outdoor seating (perfect for a cup of tea). This is enjoyable for people of all ages and families with children.

having been to Gothenburg in the begening of March, it was still cold, so no plants were there!
we went to the garden and it was a waste of time, but I'm sure at summer time it will be amazing.
And there was a tropic inside building featuring tropic plants but we didn't get it since the fee was pretty high for such a place.

We were really positively surpised by this garden, it was lovely and much larger then expected. Don't let the distance from the city center put you off, its easy to reach by tram. Highly recommended if you like gardens!
