Stayed for 2 nights. Loved the hotel and the novelty factor of it being a boat. Hotel is spotless and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I can't understand why people complain on here about the size of the rooms. They're cabins on a small ship. There were two of us and we were perfectly comfortable. Beds were comfy and suited our purpose. We paid £170 for 2 nights and would have paid double that for a larger hotel. The central station and shopping mall are about 10 mins walk from hotel where there are ample buses and trams to navigate to other areas in the city. Would stay again and highly recommend. If you want somewhere comfy and clean - stay here!

The converted Astoria, aka the floating Ibis Hotel is a charming different hotel experience for both Business and holiday travellers. As a former boat, the rooms are fairly small, but as they are fomer cabins no doubt, what else would you expect!
Staff are friendly helpful and always courteous and speak excellent English. Food in the restaurant is OK, all in all good value for money and a nice change from your usual Ibis. Have already been back twice since my initial stay

This hotel has very friendly and helpful staff. It is not in the centre of the city but if you don't mind a ten-minute walk from the train station it's fine. The number 59 bus from Nils Ericson Terminalen also stops right outside. Rooms are very clean (but small) with firm beds. Breakfast is extra, 8.50kr, with a good selection of cold foods plus scrambled and boiled eggs and bacon.

Stayed here in Aug 2012.

What was good?
Staff were polite and welcoming.
The breakfast and bar areas were very clean.
The rooms were also very clean and modern in style.

What could have been better?
The rooms were small, but this is probably to be expected given the nature of the hotel.
It’s noisy, the corridors echo as people walk past and you can hear noise from the communal areas.

Stay here if…. You like the novelty of staying on a boat, don’t mind a short walk to the town centre and plan to spend most of your time exploring the local area.

Ibis Goteborg City is actually a botel - it means it's located on a boat, which is pretty normal in Sweden. Location is rather good - it's not very centrally located, but also not far from the city center, let's say - 15 minutes on foot. Staff was very kind and friendly. Room was OK - clean, new furniture, but my impression is it was a bit smaller than in other Ibises I've stayed. However, my overall impression is very good, especially when I keep in mind that it was the cheapest double I've found in Goteborg. Recommended.

I stayed one night in this hotel and absolutely loved the ambience. The hotel is by the banks of the river and about a kilometre away from the central station. I was an hour early before my check in and yet my room was ready for me.
Though the size of the room was small, it was enough for two people. Since it was raining, I could not spend much time on the deck, but it must be simply amazing in the summer.
I spent about 70 Euros for a room enough for 2 people.
I am a loyal Ibis customer and this hotel is one of the best ones I have been in.
Take a map before you search for this hotel, a little hard to find simce there are no signs.

Room Tip: If it is summer, choose a room which overlooks the river
