Very old, historic place with a lot of character. If you're looking for modern, snazzy and hip, this is not going to work for you. Rather, it's quite charming, and as others have mentioned, the breakfast is simply wonderful.

My room was small, but functional. Love the hardwood floors and oriental carpets. The bath was modern and had nice touches like a towel heater. While others complain about noise from the street, I took my chances and opted for the "view", which really was not bad (the noise that is). I was looking towards the train station and the busy streets surrounding it. While the trams can be heard, I did not lose any sleep - and I'm pretty easily annoyed by noise, so it's not a problem here.

The staff were lovely. Perfectly friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and hospitable.

There are cool touches throughout; historic/vintage photos, posters, ads, and items from the hotels' history, like a bellboy's cap with the word "Eggers" on it.

All in all, there is no downside to this hotel - IF you like historic properties. If not, the Clarion Post across the street is fabulous, but in a very different way (it's a lot like a "W" or Le Meridien property). Both share a great location and I was really pleasantly surprised by the Eggers. Definitely would go back!

Fantastic hotel with old tradition of a fine hotel. Very delicious breakfast. You feel like a star in a movie. It was amazing to stay at the hotel and for example relax in the Lobby that looks like old movies.

I have stayed here a lot, both in business and pleasure. The Hotel is one of the oldest with nice old style furniture. The bathrooms are, in all rooms I have stayed in, renovated and fresh. The breakfeast at Eggers are one of the best I have tasted in Sweden. Especially the coffee :-) I have also eaten dinner in the restaurant a couple of times and it has been very very tasteful. The only bad things is that there is no minibar, waterheater or coffeemaker in the rooms, but there is free coffee in the lobby. Also the TV:s are so old that I never bother to turn them on.

The place has seen better days, but the rooms are adequate and the charm is still in the walls. Receptionist is very professional. I just love having a slow breakfast here in the lovely dining room on a Tuesday morning. Recommended.

We stayed here for one night, stopping off on a train journey from Copenhagen to Oslo, so the location, right outside the main railway station was ideal.

The hotel is clearly an old building, probably as old as the station itself, standing alone in the square, surrounded by the railway station, the tram terminus and a busy road. First impressions on entering reception were that the interior is as dated as the building, and we were not wrong! The Receptionist, however, was very helpful.

We were give a room on the first floor, overlooking the tram terminus, and with a small balcony with a small table and two chairs. Rather ominously by the bed were two sets of earplugs! There is no air conditioning, so the only way to cool the room is by opening the windows or balcony doors, but this comes at a price as the noisy trams continue until midnight and start early in the morning. Wifi is available within the hotel but as soon as you move onto the balcony the signal becomes very poor.

The standalone bath is okay, but without a screen or shower curtain the bathroom floods easily when taking a shower. There are no drinks in the room but a small area in Reception where flasks of coffee and water can be found (but I don't know how hot or fresh these are, as we have a travel kettle).

The restaurant area is quite dark and dismal, with a central bar which also serves as the breakfast buffet. There is, however, an outdoor seating area overlooking the square. The buffet breakfast was fine.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel close to the station then this is fine, but not somewhere you would wish to be for a prolonged stay.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the square and tram terminus are noisy, so ask for an inside room if a good night's sleep is important to you.
