“Fantastic!”
Reviewed January 5, 2009

Fantastic hotel, the staff are amazingly friendly (like most people in the city) and the rooms are extremely clean. If you can get the buffet breakfast as eating in Gothenburg can be expensive but the hotel breakfast will fill you up nicely and has a fantastically wide range. Everything from cereal to caviar in a tube (don't...try...).

There is super slow internet TV for free in the rooms and a great range of TV stations but if you get bored you are a stones throw from tourist traps and (more interestingly) a tram stop which will take you anywhere in the city!

All in all it's location is bettered only by the service, if you need a base in Gothenburg you can do much much worse than this hotel.

I paid £96 per night for a standard double room for a weekend stay in December. I booked through Expedia on this occasion.
The hotel is awesome, both in size and grandieur. It is in fact Scandinavia's largest hotel.
We arrived about 3pm and the reception was heaving with people, so check-in wasn't as easy as it could have been - it took 20 minutes to get our room key.
But, once up to the tenth floor room, I was satisfied I had made the right choice with the Gothia Towers. We were on the West Wing which others have stated as being the better of the two - I would have to agree - the room was typically Scandinavian with nice wood flooring and very comfortable.
Exploring further, we went up to the 23rd floor wine bar for last drinks of the evening - you can take a glass lift up there and the views are quite incredible - even for a liftophobe like me! There is also a restaurant up there too.
Breakfast is a grand affair as anyone who travels to Sweden will know - there was a choice of just about anything and everything and certainly catered well for the day ahead.
Overall, a top stay and when I am back in Gothenburg again, I will be sure to stay at Gothia Towers.

We bookt a standard room, but were lucky and got a room in the 19. floor in the west tower. Check in and check out was wery efficient, all contact with the frontdesk was a good experience, always a big smile.

The rooms, and hotel in general was modern, cleane and spotless. The only thing i kan think of as negative is that the rooms were a little bit small. Comfortable beds. The room had hairdryer, waterboiler, iron, minibar and umbrella. Icemachine in the hall.

Nice glass elevator with å view over Liseberg. witch was quite impressive at night with all the christmas decorations.

Both bars were nice, the one in the lobby had live music, it was quite entertaining!

We felt an exclusive atmosphere, without feeling like we didn't fit in in our normal everyday cloths.

  • Liked — That everything was so stylich
  • Disliked — Nothing, actually..

We have just returned from a break at Gothia Towers.
The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the hotel to go to the sites of Gothenburg.
Having a disability is not a problem. The lifts are spacious and the rooms are large, with wet rooms (bathrooms) for those that need them.
The lobby area is huge and very well signed and the split of the towers is brilliant.
A must is the glass elevator to the 23rd floor restaurant. The views are magnificent of the city.
The food is to an excellent standard and modern in its design.
The hotel is situated onto the conference centre and across the road from Leisberg theme park. It is also adjacent to the Universium and near to the 'Avenue' shopping area and the museums, football stadia, ice hockey arena and swimming centre.
The rooms are clean, large and tidy, with free wifi. The views from the rooms (dependant on floor) are superb. We were on the fourth floor, overlooking the theme park.
Gothenburg is one of the cleanest cities I have ever been to. We never saw any anti-social behaviour, hoodies or people smoking.
The only downside is the high food area in the breakfast section, being a little bit too high for those with mobility problems (wheel chair) and unaccompanied.
The area is a little bit more expensive that the UK, but it is much cleaner and the people are very friendly.

  • Disliked — The high nreakfast bar

Arrived at this hotel not knowing what to expect as I had it booked through work, but was pleasantly surprised by how smart and stylish the hotel presented itself when pulling up.

Although I had a large high-roof van they had a secure parking space inside the building for it, taking my keys on arrival and parking it up with no fuss at all.

Overall, the customer service was top knotch with all staff doing all they can to help me and the group I was with and answer any queries in a polite and friendly manner (unlike the stern response Ive had from other high-end chains). The rooms are of typical 4* standard, not too big, but clean and comfortable nonetheless.

If you have the money to stay here then you have the money to enjoy the restaurants and bars here as well which are all first class.

I recommend the skyview bar which, according to the hotel guide is for "the masters of mingle", whatever that means. Eye-wateringly expensive (I witnessed a Norwegian oil magnate buy 2 bottles of champagne for £250 each, which in England cost £15 from a supermarket) but the view makes it worth it.

Breakfast was one of the worst I've ever had in Europe / Scandinavia. In my opinion you can judge a good breakfast by the standard of the scrambled eggs and in Gothia Towers case they were just inedible. Mushy, gooey and judging by the many other egg-laden plates in the room most thought the same.

Apart from that, well worth staying here.

The food at incontro - the ground floor restaurant - was excellent, and the staff friendly and effiicient. The room was clean and pleasant, with fantastic views.

Broadband was fast, too - a good hotel for business travellers.

I visited Gothenburg on 30th June 2008 and stayed at Gothia Towers for a week with my husband and had a lovely time in the hotel. It is very nice and clean, good facilities with 2 restaurants on site including 23 Heaven which has a lovely view of the city. Nice location with a little walk to the Avenue where all the shops and restaurants/bars are. Rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed if required. Huge selection of food for breakfast which is buffet style.

Only downside is the lift system you sometimes have to wait ages for your lift to come, not a major problem though. There is however a glass lift that comes lot quicker if your not too bothered about heights and gives you a fantastic view.

Would definately recommend!!
