“Nice experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

The hotel was nice and clean, most of the staff were nice though i did find some of them rude. The food was all right but nothing special so i'd recommend to look elsewhere for a nicer, and cheaper, meal. Overall the experience was good and i'd most likely stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is in a good central location, nice staff and services. Excellent beds and nice interior.
But cleaning is not one of the strong sides. Perhaps it was a one time exception, but I have never stayed in a hotel with a bathroom that was clearly not cleaned. And I am not sensitive to dirt.
But there was no missing the dirty toilet.

And the glass elevators looked nice in the dark night, but oh so dirty in daylight.
Perhaps a bad day in the cleaning department?

The staff and management were nice to compensate, so it was an ok stay.

Room Tip: Make sure the bathroom is clean, and call the reception at once to change rooms if there is a proble...

A very big hotel with over 700 rooms. At the time of our visit it was very busy with conference guests and families on summer holidays visiting the Liseberg Amusement Park that it overlooks. Rooms ordinary but very comfortable and clean. Breakfast spread excellent although the dining room was a bit like a mess hall. Kids enjoyed the Wii U and DS games in the lobby. Efficient tram and bus station is just outside (including airport bus), but also quite easy to walk into the city centre. Good access to family activities on doorstep (Liseberg Amusement Park and Universeum Science Museum) and plenty of local restaurants.

I confess that 4 months after I travelled there, some of the details of this hotel now escape me. I do recall that it is made up of a few tall glass towers combined with a large exhibition/conference centre. It's easy to reach from the airport, being the first stop on the airport bus from Gothenburg's main international airport, and that junction also has a number of trams that will take you into the centre of the city or out to Chalmers University (amongst other locations.) It's right opposite the Liseberg amusement park. From the higher floors you get some very broad views over the city, especially from the bar on the 23rd floor.

The bar has some interesting beer choices and a pretty basic list of bar food. Breakfast is in a fairly cavernous room reminiscent of a mess-hall. There's lots of excellent choice but some things (such as coffee machines) aren't in as great supply as they could be.

I really can't recall anything about the room which suggests it was neither great nor awful.

I had a nice stay at Gothia Towers, with a room on the 12th floor overlooking Liseberg amusement park. The room was fairly standard, clean and spacious, but not very colourful. The Heaven23 bar and restaurant on the 23rd floor are worth a visit. Excellent cocktails and shrimp sandwiches! We also had an excellent brunch at the Incontro restaurant. The breakfast buffet had a lot of choices. If you're visiting Liseberg the location is unbeatable.

This is one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The quality is so bad we really did think they had bought the fixtures from ikea! The buffet breakfast was a complete joke and the general service was lacking!

The only good thing about the hotel was the restaurant on floor 23 if you don't mind waiting an age for service.

We had a total of three different rooms during our 4 day stay. Initially we were given the choice of a room with restricted views and building work outside. We refused that and were given a room with two single beds. The next day we were moved to a room with a double bed, however, there was no workspace, the double bed had a single matress and there was no bath so we were moved again, we upgraded to a sky suite.. this was on a par with the first room except for the fact we had a so called breakfast update and an addition fee to pay for it!

If I ever have the misfortune of visiting Gothenburg again, I will not stay here!

Room Tip: Don't bother paying for a Sky Suite..

From outside the Hotel look really amazing and very nice to have a stay at. But a good facade use to hide bad things and so is the case also here.
Lets start with the reception.
Very arrogant and not so welcoming staff at the front desk. I got the feeling that the people that worked at the front desk, only were counting the hours to the time when it were time to go home for the day.

I stayed at a similar Hotel in Malmö earlier in the week and that staff were more human and polite and welcoming. I recommended a girl at the desk to undo one button more at her blouse due to the heat and she did it with a smile and thought that I were very thoughtful to her.
That's how the attitude would have been also at Gothia Towers.. And when I left the hotel in Malmö I were asked if I had a pleasant stay and were very welcomed back. On Gothia Towers, when I checked out, I only paid for my room, the things I have taken at the minibar and that were that. No "thank you for staying here" No "welcome back" not even a goodbye! Very arrogant and bad attitude!

Room: I stayed in a Queensize room on 17th floor

When I got up to the room I found out that there were no AC (Air-conidition) at the room.
Well, Sweden is known for being a country with a chily climate but in the summer it could be really hot aswell and AC is required in very hot days like the one yesterday when I stayed at the hotel. It were about 28-30 degrees Celsius and even hotter in the sun.
Later I found out that NO ROOM AT ALL at the hotel have AC and the cooler in the room is a joke. The heat during the night when I were going to sleep were bearable but nothing more.

At the room where I stayed, there were also parts that were loose. Like the thing on the wall that you push for getting soap in the shower. And the window didnt seen to have been cleaned since the hotel were build.

Add to that, there are very limited powerplugs. I hade to charge my Tablet in the bathroom (!) due to the only other two available plugs were taken by my PC and cellphone.
A modern hotel should at least provide four-five powerplugs in the room for their modern and online guests ;-)

The room were also very sensitive for noices from other rooms both above, under and beside. Not so you could here people talk but you hear everytime they walk through the door or move a chair on the floor or so.

Regarding the minibar it were basic: Two kind of little bags of snacks, two beers, two mineralwater and two soda/soft drinks, although the cooling in the frigde were not that good so the ice-machine located near the elevators had to solve that issue :-)

Breakfast:
Very good range of things you could eat that will suite most pepole. And there a lots and lots of seats in the breakfast-room. Although the stuff were very, very fast to collect your things where you were gone. I went to get some more milk and when I come back the sandwich that I wasn't finished with were gone and also the plate where I have left some bacon on. So be aware that the staff takes your things away almost immediately after you have left the chair.

Location:
Very good. Easy to access by tram and Swedens biggest amusement park, Liseberg, is just across the street. And the hotel is also very close to Universeum which is a science discovery center. Both the indoor sportsarena Scandinavium and the 43000 seater stadium Ullevi is whitin close walking distance.
