“Much improved dining!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

We stayed at this hotel two years ago, and we were very satisfied by everything apart from the Restaurant and Breakfast. This time, the restaurant had changed hugely, and we dined at the hotel rather than going to neighbouring restaurants which is what we did on our last visit. Food and service was excellent, and the lunch menu was good value.

Hotel staff are very helpful, and the free WiFi worked well. Spa was closed for cleaning whilst we were there, so I can't comment.

The only improvement I would suggest is to add BBC to the TV channels - there was only CNN in English, and this was dominated by the forthcoming US election!

Situation is very convenient - trams and airport bus stop right outside the hotel. But despite this, bedrooms are very quiet.

In total, we have stayed at this hotel four times; and we shall return.

Lovely hotel. Nice room, big windows, clean.
It's the small things that put it over the top for me. The ability to make coffee and tea in my room, the easy to use free wifi (just give email adress, no complicated passwords you have to renew every day), lovely breakfast with plenty of free daily papers to peruse (though only one in English).
Didn't have time to try the spa unfortunately.

My bathtub had a problem, the water was too hot and couldn't be altered. Called reception and in 2 min someone came up and quickly fixed it. No more problem.

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and had an enjoyable stay. This hotel keeps is original looking and also the decoration of the rooms brinngs you back to the "old good time". Management should make a concession to the 21st century and install new modern TV Sets .
The breakfast is very good - alot of choices - fully self-service.
Hotel is central located and direct connected to the airport bus and the city transport system (nice old trams). We definitly recommend this place - also for seminars

Room Tip: Take a high floor room

I stayed two nights at the hotel on a business trip. The hotel is centrally located close to many of the cultural institutes in Goteborg. Rooms are of older standard but clearly refurbished recently. Good standard with plenty of space for hanging cloth one hangers and place to put suitcases.

TV was the only thing that wasn't refurbished. Well functioning however so was the WiFi.

In the basement there is a small Gym which I used both mornings. Not too many exercises but just enough to get some work out done when on the road. There should be a wellness department with a swimming pool. I didn't test it but it is there.

Breakfast had all you could expect from an international hotel as well as what the local Scandinavians eat. Good selection of local, national and international papers.

The price level for the hotel was fair. I at least found that we the discount I received it was a good value for money offer.

All-in-all i enjoyed my stay and can recommend this hotel to all kinds of travelers. I will definetly return to this hotel if sleeping in Goteborg again.

Spent one night with family in this famous Gothenburg hotel. Large nice room with two tv screens, which was perfect as our grandchild could watch a movie as we watched the news. Bathroom a bit on the small side.

Nice helpful staff, enourmous breakfast buffet adds to the pleasure.

Had very nice dinner in the cafe restaurant - good service and food was great.

Knowing how difficult it is to find good quality hotels at a good price in Sweden I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at Elite Park Avenue. Nice friendly welcome followed by good clean well appointed rooms put me in a good mood. The bar actually lacks mood and does feel a little sterile. Food of decent quality and as I said for Sweden this is good value for money.

Elite prices are 5* but the hotel isn't. Little assistance with luggage or information. Good bed and bedding but the extras not there. Poor curtains, make up mirror just spun around no way to hold in place, bathroom door stuck so you had to almost fight your way out. Knowledge of local area was missing - we wanted to watch a Formula One race on TV (big in Europe) and had to find our own way. Other room's left overs from room service sat in the hall for more than 12 hours - eventually that shrimp was going to be not nice to walk by.
They had notices in the elevator that a film crew would be in the hotel on the day of our departure. However when we were trying to negotiate the lobby, for check out and luggage etc. it was a total chaos with unsafe situations of equipment being pushed around too quickly with no concern for the actual guests in the area.
Room does include an open buffet breakfast but it isn't an option, you are forced to pay about $28 US per person in your room charge.
This is a pretty hotel, very clean, above average bathroom, good beds, but it just didn't live up to our expectations.
