Owner description: The official museum for Saab cars in their headquarter city of Trolhattan, Sweden.

You don't need to be a car fanatic to appreciate this museum. Even my youngest daugther age 11 loved it. And my wife was fond of the yellow convertible. Although it isn't big after all, this museum will take you at least an hour. One hour less outside in the swedish rain ....

A trip to the Goteborg-area for any car enthusiast isn't complete without a trip up to Trollhattan to check out the Saab Bilmuseum (car museum)! About 45 minutes to the north, Trollhattan is easy to reach via train from the Goteborg central station, and much easier than to drive/rent a car. Trains leave every few hours during the week, and cost about $15 round trip!

When you arrive in Trollhattan, you'd be surprised how quaint and small-town it feels! I didn't get to explore around much, but what I did see was much cozier feeling than the big city. The local bus service is a bit sporadic though, so it's probably best to take a taxi (about 100SEK). They're usually waiting by the station, but if not, you could ask the convenience store clerk to call them. Pretty cool, as the taxis are new Saab wagons!

The museum costs 60SEK for adults, and has a collection that's more than worth the price. There's plenty of cars - ranging from the original URSAAB to the newest 9-5, and everything in between. They've got classic engines, concept cars, rally cars and historical displays of their engineering and design... showcasing what Saab pioneered for the automotive industry (for example - they pioneered the headlamp washer/wiper, direct ignition, and heated car seats!).

The museum is a bit small, though... noticeably smaller than the Volvo museum in Goteborg. I would say it takes about an hour to breeze through the musuem... no more than two hours if you read about most of the cars in there. Still, it's amazing to see the large collection of cars and even a new Spyker racecar (Saab's new brethren).

All in all, a cool trip for any car enthusiast - especially a Volvo or Saab owner.
