“good food, wine and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

I've been in this restaurant serveral times until now and I really love it, the food and the wine are really high quality.
From appetizer to pasta to meat to desserts taste is always superbe simply because base ingredients are good and because of an original touch of the chef, in paricular desserts.
For instance tonight I had an ice cream with saffron and apricots, that I never found elsewhere.
I had a sirloin as well, maybe the meat was not the most tender I've ever had but that was really tasty, with slightly cooked veggies.
But the "bucatini cacio e pepe" that the owner gifted me (because I go there often and probably because I am Italian) were close to perfection.

Wines selection is good quality as well from white to rosè to red ones.
The interesting part in my opinion is that you buy a card where you put money in. Then you can help yourself with the available wines with an automatic tap simply inserting the card. You can choose the quantity of wine you want (small / medium / large).

The athmosphere is very friendly since you enter. The owner, an Italian man, is always welcoming people and checking customers satisfaction, walking around the tables, when he is not busy in the kitchen. Waiter and waitress are always kind.
Futhermore there are different rooms where the furniture is original and different wherever you turn to, floor, walls, really distinctive.
I always find loads of people enjoing food and atmosphere so you can also enjoy good company.
Location is in the middle of the town in a scenic please where the river makes artificial falls and no cars around you.

Least but not last I've been elsewhere, but not in Asken that is ranked as first, but I have to say that the price is good. Pappagrappa for instance is much more expensive and not sure the quality is the same.

As I said I've been there many times with colleagues and all of us were always happy also with the pizza that I never tried personally.

Response is surely positive, worth more than a try!

“Hate it or love it...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012

After a lot of people were talking about this place it was time to go there to get my own experience.

We were a group of 8 people and made a reservation, this was working fine, no trouble with that.

Place and its design:
The place is spitted into two areas, one being well designed and fits the name the place has, tables are spread out on at least 3 different half-floors. Disadvantage, as already mentioned by others, is the noise. If it crowed then it is very noisy and no fun anymore if you would like to talk with your friends.

The other part of the bar/restaurant is more modern styled but could be a canteen of start-up company also. Somehow fancy, modern, but not attractive at all.

The wine bar with its wine-o-mats is something special, either you like or hate it, me grown up in a wine-area, just hates it. More info if you read further

Service and the Concept:
This bar claims to be somehow special, and that it really is. Upon arrival you will get a not marked chip (easy to loose control over who’s chip is whom) where all your purchase are registered. Everything has to be ordered at the bar (food and drinks), drinks you can take with you directly, food will be served at your table. Wine can be ordered at the bar or you buy a credit on a chip card (like credit card). Annoying is that they use two different chip systems, one for the wine-o-mat and another for the food and any other drinks.

The wine-o-mat : If I remember right they have 4 wine-o-mats with 4 different wines each. On the Ipad in front of that wine-o-mat you get information about the different wines and you see the bottles behind a glass window. Whether it is really bottled wine or bag-in-box wine they serve I do not remember. You place your chip-card in the slot, press the button for the respective wine and how much you want and if you are lucky there is still something in and you get what you pay for. We just watched and did not try it ourselves, but started laughing to tears when one tried to get something out but unfortunately the bottle/bag was close to empty and only spitted out a portion of what has been purchased. Then you have to call for the service...

This is something for people who like the American way of life and would even not hesitate to put ice-cubes in their French red wine to keep it cool. If you have some sense and knowledge about wine, you just get annoyed… no culture!

The Service personnel has learned its lesson. The staff was friendly and decent, even the cook came out of the kitchen in order to check whether everything is OK, looks like they read on Tripadvisor what other people write.

On the other hand the staff is only there to bring the food, take away all the cutlery and plates and to cook. Do not even dare to ask them for a favor to bring a drink or place an order at the table. That will spoil their concept. You have to stand up, go to the bar (do not forget your chip) and order there. I do not know how many times people came and went but it is not funny at all, since in groups like we have been, there is always somebody at the bar in order to order something. Do not think you will have a calm decent evening; somebody is always on the run.

Drinks & food:
They have the wine-o-mat with a certain selection. They offer also wine at the bar and all kind of other drinks and coffee. I had to drive and ordered an alcohol-free beer. When I went to get 2nd, they told me that they do not have any anymore. Room for improvement!

The food as such (I had American style steak with vegetable and a dark red-wine sauce) and a starter was OK but nothing special at all if you remember that the pricing level is still the same as in other equally-standard restaurants but with service. There are better places in Norrköping where you get served and get even better quality of food.

The menu has a Italian focus with pizza and pasta, on Thursday to Saturday they offer grilled dishes, too.

Summary:
Parts of the place are well designed and you would really like to stay, the concept with the wine-o-mat, the chip-system and that you have to go to the bar any time you want to order something is no fun at all an destroys the evening. The food is OK, nothing special, but there are better places in Norrkoping at the same or even better pricing level. If to choose I would go somewhere else (check the ranking!)

If you call a place enotek (enoteca = greek word for wine storage, with its origina in italy) then I would recommend to be professional and keep the wine-culture upright. Do not destroy it with a mixture of high-tech, non-existing service and a partly well designed place which fits the name. This place is neither fish nor meat.

“Great pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2012

I've been here twice - once to eat, and once just to drink some wine.

The food is great. I had an excellent salami pizza, and my colleagues had the burger and the shellfish soup respectively. Everyone was very happy with the food. I’ve heard good things about their pasta as well, so I’ll probably try that if/when I eat here again.

While the food is great, the selling point of Enoteket is their wine-o-mats. You get a great selection of wines on glass, or half a glass - or just a taste. You can spend all evening just trying different wines.

The place is really cozy, but it can get a bit busy. The large dining hall can get very loud when crowded - especially after everyone’s had a bit of wine. I really think the owners should try to do something about the acoustics.

That said, I’ll probably end up here again, many a time in the future.

“Nice italian food, great selection of wine, cool decor and friendly stafd”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2012

Been here twice, both lunch and evening. I love the concept of great italian food at a reasonable price. It's also nice that they offer such a vast selection of wines per glass (you can even buy half a glass...or just a sip!)

The restaurant is set in an old factory and the've made excellent use of the place combining the roughness of the old factory with their personal decor. If you book in advance, ask if you can have one of the cubicles as they are all unique and very nice and reflect the owners life history. One is devoted to his dog, one to his childhood, one to Totti (the football player) - you get the picture.

I definetely plan to return.
