“Great spa!”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

We stayed the Elite Grand in Norrkoping while my my husband was on business there. The hotel was very pleasant and the staff very helpful. The highlight was the spa and massage facilities located in the basement of the hotel which I made full use of while the other half was out at work! Best hot stone massage ever!

Born in Norrköping i remember Grand Hotel as a place i never would have the economy stay at so checking in here now was a bit strange. Elite Hotels are a chain of hotels and i dont know if they are the reason why Grand Hotel in Norrköping now are a inferno of familys on there way to the famous Zoo in the area, Kolmården.

The room was ok, not in any way something extra. No iron board, no kettle in the room and the windows was blocked for opening. The staff did what you expect them to do, nothing more, and breakfast was a nightmare with all the children running around (the same happend in the Hotel Bar in the evening). But that parents cant control there children is nothing the Hotel can be blamed for.

And since the location is a bit off, even if it´s located in whats called the center of Norrköping, the over all impression cant be high im affraid.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with view over the water or the town hall. Cause the rooms facing the street have...

Centrally located and convenient for museum area, railway station and shopping. Service was good, breakfast above average (for once, the orange juice was based on oranges) but the room although comfortable was a little jaded.

I don't know if it's the weather, it rained constantly and heavily the whole time we stayed, but this hotel does not live up to Elite standard.
We had a juniorsuite,, room 722, on the top floor with a gorgeous view over the river and the town. We also had big windows in two directions which was great. The bed was very comfy. The decor reminded me of old townhotels and the smell was also from "old days". We had a jaccuzzi but if you just wanted to take a shower you had to get in the jaccuzzi which was kind of hard and absolutely not handicap-friendly. So beware if you have difficulties going in and out bath-tubs.
The toiletseat was loose so when you sat down you kind of tilted. At one point I ended up the toiletring in my hands (!?)
The whole room also needed some tlc.
The elevator was really old and like an old lady raised with grandessa, that is very slow.
The staff in the reception was very welcoming and helpful.
But I must say I was dissapointed at the breakfast which didn't live up to the usual Elite standard. The choice of bread very poorly and not very healthy. When we came at 9.30AM (breakfast is until 11.30 AM on Saturdays) there were no Brie cheese, no scrambled eggs, no pancakes and not much left of the yoghurt, nuts and ceriels.
A big plus is its central and beautiful location.

Room Tip: We loved the top floor room facing the river rather than the city center.

It's a nice hotel located near the city centre. No complaints about the service. There's also a great restaurant in connection to the hotel. I guess some people could find the noise at night a bit annoying.

Stayed here for a couple of days before moving on to Gotland. Probably the most disappointing hotel I've stayed in in Sweden and I've been coming here for 12 years. Rooms were only ok. Very hot and no aircon so as a result we had to open the windows. Very noisy streets with drunken people, trams, buses and speeding cars and motorbikes to ensure I didn't sleep a wink either night. I wouldnt mind but its not even a party town and I,ve had quieter stays in stockholm. Weren't allowed use the stairs in this hotel and I hate lifts so this was upsetting. Food in restaurant was ok but service poor with a very dodgy table that felt it would fall over at any time. Overall distinctly average hotel but noisy as hell should have skipped this town and gone straight to Gotland.
