Attraction details
Owner description: For almost 800 years people have been coming to worship and pray at Linköping Cathedral. Work on the Cathedral was started in 1230, with the main building works being completed in 1520. The belfry and the west façade were added in 1885. Linköping Cathedral is the most impressive and expensive Swedish church building of the Middle Ages. Within the church you can see evidence of almost 800 years in which master craftsmen have expressed their faith in wood and stone

“Sometimes you have to find the right time”
Reviewed July 28, 2012

Went to the cathedral several times. A few times a service was in progress and another time it was locked up. Went on a Saturday morning and enjoyed the site. Bring Kroner if you want to buy something at the gift shop - no credit cards. They do have some literature in English but it is sparse. If you can read Swedish and Latin, then you can read the tablets and signs posted about the cathedral.

“Both Modern and Traditional”
Reviewed May 30, 2012

Don't miss this cathedral: we liked it better than many we've seen throughout Europe. While maintaining the tradional medieval design, the church also has some beautiful modern features. Be sure to take the time to see all of the art and especially the Mary Window, an etched window behind the altar.

“Bella Cattedrale - Beautiful Cathedral”
Reviewed February 12, 2012

1) il colore del tetto, gli stemmi interni e le vetrate;
2) la scultura dell'albero della Pace situato immediatamente a sinistra, dopo l'ingresso.

This is a typical example of Gothic Cathedral with 3 spacious aisles. At the entrance you can buy postcards (which is not so easy, if not impossible, in the rest of the city). The things that impressed me the most are
1) the color of the roof, interior and stained glass coats of arms;
2) the sculpture of the Tree of Peace located immediately on the left after entering.

“For a nice walk, or go to the mass when choir singing”
Reviewed January 20, 2012

It is a very nice and pleasant place to visit, especially if you have different religion than Swedes. it is very old, I think they started to build it around 1200. You can see some interesting things inside and it won't take to much time - less then half an hour is enough. I know they offer guided tours but i've never taken one. Might be interesting if you are into history. A nice stop-point in a city like Linkoping, It's open until 18:00
