Our family, including 2 kids 19 and 14, stayed in Baan Leelavadee for 10 nights and we loved it. great facilities available to keep everybody satisfied. The staff were wonderful and were most helpful and could not do enough for us. We were impressed that, after arriving late on a Saturday night and finding an issue with the water in the showers (ie there was none!!) that they had their own Mr Fixit there by 8am on the Sunday who had things fixed up in half an hour. SBV is a bit off the beaten track, but the regular shuttle to Lamai and Chaweng makes it easy to get to these towns where there are loads of good restaurants and markets. Most of the day trips that they organise are great - especially the one to Koh Tao.

We recently spent a week at Samui Beach Village in Baan Rim Haad. Perfect! My family of 3 teenage boys all thanked me on arrival and continued to enjoy the perfect location. The configuration of the villa was perfect for our family and led to a relaxing holiday. We were concerned that being right on the beach would be an issue of privacy, but it felt like being on your own beach. Staff were excellent. Food delicious and room service quick. Looking forward to the new restaurant on our return visit in the future.

Room Tip: Check out the layout of the villas as they are all different. We moved into another villa for a nig...

Best place to stay in samui. Excellent villas & ocean view rooms. The pools r really very good. Best thing we liked about this place is that villas & ocean view rooms with private pools r just 50 meters away from ocean. Best place to relax & chill out with ur family & friends. Even the Staff is very caring & helpfull. We would love to visit & stay here again.

We recently stayed in Baan Astasia at the Samui Beach Village in Koh Samui. What a great resort in a fabulous setting. The villa itself is beautiful and sits only metres away from an exceptional beach. The staff at Samui Village really are amazing - nothing is to much trouble and any problem that may arise is dealt with immediately. The services available are extensive and everything you would expect from a 5* resort. We found the owners to have a genuine interest in their guests and ensuring that everyone had a wonderful time. We were made to feel very welcome and look forward to returning to see the much anticipated next phase of the Samui Beach Village.

We have just spent two weeks in a 2 bed villa here . Baan orchid which was very nice, felt safe and quite secluded but only a couple of minutes from reception / restaurant .
Sometimes you have to wait around for a driver or a drink but I think that's just island living , if you want to tush around 24/7 probably not the place for you but if your happy to kick back and relax then it's probably a good choice.
Your about 20 mins from lamai which is the same as chaweng , only you can decide on Thailand it's a bit like marmite but we loved it

Dear Balmoraljim,

Thanks so much for your review and we really value the feedback. It's great to hear you enjoyed your relaxing holiday with us here.
We do provide a free shuttle service four times per day to Lamai (10 minutes from resort) and Chaweng (20 minutes from resort), however we do ask guests to double check on timings each day so you are not left waiting. It's a great way to explore some of the island and the hustle and bustle, whilst escaping back to Samui Beach Village at the end of the day for some rest and relaxation.

Kindest regards,

Phil Dunlop

We spent five days in Baan Suay - grandparents, parents and two children. One villa away from the beach. Lovely villa with everything you could need. Private swimming pool was great although a little heavy on the chlorine (or whatever was being used) and suffering from a little wear and tear - but the kids loved it. Short walk to the beach which could be kept a little cleaner - I passed on this feedback and I have no doubt they will act on it (great staff). Shallow water out to a small reef about 150m out. There's a small river that empties into the sea which makes it a little discoloured after heavy rain but nothing too bad. On just one day, we all got eaten alive by bugs but it seemed to be a one off. Generally a good beach with a kite surfing resort next door.
Now from the good to the great - amazing staff, I mean really amazing. I could not fault them.
Fantastic food. Only on restaurant but served every style and so adaptable to the kids. Very, very good quality. I was quite surprised at how good. We have full board and I wasn't bored or disappointed once.
The restaurant floor could be cleaned a little more often - but a small thing.
The Spa - my parents and I all went for a massage. One of the best I have ever had. Very, very good.
I hired a scooter as it was a little out of town. That helped but there's also a shuttle into town every day.
Parts of the grounds could be kept a little tidier and there's some construction starting soon but generally very good. Again the staff responded to comments very quickly so I would be surprised if they don't address all the minor issues.
We would go again.

This review has been a long time coming, as we stayed at SBV way back in July (I totally forgot to write the review....although maybe we just don't want to spread the word too much as we want to keep this place a secret!).

My family and I, comprised of 6 adults and 3 children (aged 8, 4 and 2) stayed in Baan Chang and Baan Banburee for seven nights in total in July 2013 and we LOVED it!!! We were greeted by Emma, given cool towels and a drink whilst we listened to her give us an explanation of how things worked, where things were located. Our first four nights were in Chang which was the more dated of the two villas but still great nonetheless. The rooms were spacious, clean and the whole villa well set up for families. The pool was FANTASTIC as was the lounge area well set up for kids. Banburee was a beautiful villa, much newer and cleaner, and it was here that we spent our last three nights and most certainly didn't want to leave! The staff at SBV is what made our stay particularly memorable! They were all so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Pui was awesome with the kids and our almost three year old still talks about her 6 months later, and Emma was so so helpful when it came to dealing with any minor issues or helping us plan outings (her recommendation that we take a trip on the Red Baron was priceless, what a wonderful day trip that was!). The restaurant was fantastic, all the staff there showed great hospitality, and the food absolutely yummy, cheap (for a resort) and there was lots to choose from. The BBQ night we had on our first night was fantastic value for money (& definitely not your typical BBQ fare)...my family and I are real foodies and we were impressed with to the restaurant. Had the restaurant not been as good as it was, then maybe our experience at SBV had not been as top notch. My mum had a pedicure at the Spa and said it was good, the Kids Club ran some fun activities, and the communal pool was nice to swim in (but a wee bit warm for us). Cocktails were great, especially during Happy Hour ;). Our our second last day we had lunch at the Fisherman's Outlet restaurant which is just down the road (a ten min walk, or very quick cab ride) recommended to us by Emma and it was absolutely wonderful. Be sure to hire a car or some scooters to get out and about, but taxis aren't expensive anyway. If you have smaller children (10 and under perhaps) then be sure to visit Coco Splash in Lamai. Our three little people (and us adults) had an awesome time there! We also enjoyed heading into Lamai on a Friday night for Walking Street, when they close off the main road and set up market and food stalls.

The cons (if we had to be picky....these didn't detract for our overall experience though!):
Baan Chang was a little dated, or more so suffering from wear and tear, didn't have a dining table and the air con was rather loud. Baan Banburee's pool wasn't as well suited to smaller children compared to Chang as it was all the one depth. Banburee had a weird set up in one room next to the dining area, where there was a bar, a couple of stools but nothing else. It seemed a waste of space, and it would have been much better to have another lounge suite and TV in there, for kids maybe? The entrance into the resort doesn't do the place justice...it is quite barren, looks like a deserted place in parts, a little untidy. It would be even better if SBV had an additional restaurant or bar, just to mix things up a bit, as there is only the one place to get food and drinks there (unless you walk next door to the Orchid Resort which in our opinion was far less superior than SBV...this place by the way, was not worth visiting for the animals, etc. really awful actually...). The beauty of SBV is that it's quiet, removed from any hustle and bustle which to some people would be a problem as you can't just walk out of the resort and go to an array of restaurants, shops, etc. but we solved that by hiring scooters, getting taxis, etc. We were a little disappointed that the free shuttle into Lamai only took us one way, ie. we had to make our own way back to SBV at our own cost, and we sometimes couldn't get a seat as it had been booked out days in advance (which means we couldn't make a decision in the morning to head into town that day and use that shuttle service because there was no room!). We travelled to Koh Samui in July when the tide is out for most of the day at the beach so we only went to the beach at the resort a couple of times for a walk, not to swim...we knew this when we booked though, but if you really want a beach and resort experience then maybe don't choose SBV.

Overall, our time at SBV as memorable, relaxing and well worth it! We can't wait to go back again, and would definitely recommend it to others, especially if you want to be away from loads of tourists and noise.
