The market in the beach village of Villaricos has a good mix of fruit and veg stalls and clothing sellers, with the addition of some that are offering touristy items and others that offer goods for the home. Yes, you can get bread and also roast chickens. There's an added bonus, it takes place on a Sunday, when most stores further inland are shut...

This was as good as expected. A large range of stalls with all you can wish for at a market like this.
If you are eating at home we recommend you to buy a "pollo" chickin with potatoes to take home it's really delicius.

I recently went down just for a walk around the market.
Have to say it has everything you need from bed sheets to handbags etc.
I purchased new bed linen for my apartment and it's great to try and haggle in Spanish even though mine's not great...

Villaricos market is a bustling, tight packed market on a Sunday morning, from about 9.30am until about 1pm...just right to go and have lunch in one of the local restaurants!
The market is renowned for it's many fresh fruit and vegetable stalls, but over the years...I have been visiting for over 15...the market has gained a huge and varied amount of clothing, leather, music, homewares, greetings cards, soft furnishing materials, olives and cured meat, and many other stalls.
It can be pretty busy, so be prepared to exercise your patience as you browse.
A word of warning..and this goes for every market...keep your bags zipped, your wallets in pockets that can't be picked! There are opportunists in every market. It is NOT a huge problem, but it does happen and why spoil your holiday?
I love this market..not to big and right by the sea! Lovely!
