The Great war island is river island situated in Zemun, Belgrade, Serbia.
Island is lying at the confluence of river Sava and Danube. It is often flooded during the winter.
Island is home for rare spicies of birds and fish.
During the summer, when water is low, north side is used as beach called Lido. It is sandy beach accessible by boats or by bridge that sets the army from may to september. Crossing the bridge is free. Beach is safe, with lifeguards. Toilets are accessible, also showers. Island has electricity and running water, restaurant and camp. Camp is free and all you need is tent, sun cream and strong will (lot of mosquitoes). Some locals have cottages at the island and if you want to see rest of island (forest, channels...) you can always ask for help.
