I dream of Kajsas' fish soup! I've been visiting Kajsas since the 90s, and always order only that. It's a hearty red broth stocked with fish like a dude ranch pond. Miraculously, the large tender filets are boneless.

When you order, you say yes or no to additional spoonfuls of cooked shrimp (yes!), mussels (yes!), and aioli (absolutely!). Then you add your own double-dollop of harissa (spicy Moroccan chili paste) (essential!). Feast in a bowl!

The free "salad," on my last visit a few days ago, was shredded napa cabbage, a nice, crunchy complement. I seem to remember other simple salads on other visits. Bread is included, and so is water.

Of course you can order other seafood dishes, but why? I can't tell you about them, either. Just get the fish soup and swoon. There's a bar, too, so you can have a beer with it if you like.

Located inside a top-quality food hall, Kajsas must source its fish from the neighboring seafood dealers—I'm presuming here—or maybe they buy from the same fishmongers the neighbors do. Regardless, you imagine you're eating the fishermen's own stew.

I love the atmosphere, even though the place is indoors, underground, in a market, with a giant, shiny Patagonian toothfish staring at me from between the octopus and baby squids in the glass counter across the aisle. It's not romantic or scenic or high-design—just authentic, unpretentious, and efficient.

This is a great lunch place with really fresh fish served in good portions at good prices. It is tucked away in the back of Hortorgshallen which is an underground food hall in the middle of Stockholm.
Just getting to it is treat for the senses wandering past the fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses etc. There are no reservations and sharing the limited number of tables with strangers is part of the experience. After ordering at the counter, the dishes are brought to your table. Coming after 12 noon means waiting in line. But it is well worth it. The fish is fresh and well prepared. The price includes a side salad and bread. They are famous for their fisksoppa (Swedish version of boullabaise) and mussels are very good too. The other offerings depends on what is fresh.

It's a typical restaurant for lunch, with a great hearty fish soup. Have been there many times, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends or colleagues from work. The service was fast, efficient. You take your tray, ask for what you want and get it served almost immediately. Love it for a nice cozy lunch. It's not a romantic place. Just good food at good value and fast service.

The fish soup was very good!! very good value
GO!
Note that the food market close quite early though (6? or 7?)

we've also tried the salmon pudding and it was not bad.
They don't have an English menu but the people there are very helpful and is willing to translate the menu for you.

The fish monger next door (on the left) is very good too
we bought a salmon tartare lunchbox and it was divine!!
perfectly seasoned and good value
