Description: After 12 years of continuous evolvement Marie Laveau is more relevant than ever. Inspired by American bistros, Marie Laveau has created a welcoming restaurant for the whole family on Hornsgatan in Stockholm. The menu is inspired by Southern comfort food with roots in New Orleans, Louisiana and Southwest Mexico. No white tablecloths or magniloquent dishes, but more relaxed and open-minded atmosphere. Marie Laveau is a pleasure-dome in a small format for those who want to spend half the day and throughout the night under the same roof. The lunch is best taken at Love Food Cafe, where you will find well-prepared sandwiches that you can order from a menu or if you prefer to make your own. After work is best taken in the main bar. Ideal for group of friends who want to kick start the evening. The family might choose to sit in the dining room, the menu is the same no matter where you sit. Great cocktails? How about Stockholm's best cocktails? Go to Little Quarter, where the pace is equal to the love of the craftsmanship. Want to go clubbing? Club Laveau is open every weekend with crazy events, wild parties and amazing DJs. Marie Laveau is simply a place for the people, a place where everyone is welcome.

“Great place”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

If you are looking for a trendy place in Stockholm and you enjoy Creole and Cajun cuisine then the restaurant Marie Laveau is the perfect place. It is located in a trendy part of town known as Söder, and near the restaurant you can find loads of other restaurants and bars. The entrance to the restaurant is a huge bar area with DJ in the corner. In the bar you can get some light dishes like burgers and salads or just enjoy the wide range of drinks that they serve there. The bar has also a good range of beers and wines and there is a happy hour between 5 and 7 pm.

Well inside the restaurant you walk into a fairly open and kitchen like room. The room is quite bright and full of simple tables and chairs, a dominating feature is the white tile walls. The style is fresh and hip. After looking at the menu that was filled with loads of nice dishes I decided to go for Spicy Louisiana Shrimps as I starter together with Arh Havd Belgien Pale Ale from the Mikkeller brewery in Denmark. The shrimps were really good but also very greasy, my hands were really greased in oil after having peeled the shrimps. My main dish was a Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, which was very tasty, but less spicy than I had expected. I was quite full after that but still decided to go for their Ice Cream Monster, which turned out to be an ice cream with surprises like marshmallows and other kinds of candy.

“Gorgeous”
Reviewed March 29, 2014 via mobile

Gorgeous meal. We had the akora fritters and spicy prawns as starters. The fritters were nice but a little small, there were loads of prawns tho and really tasty and spicy. I had the pork belly with chutney as my main and it was amazing - gorgeous sticky coating, not fatty at all, big portion. We had the apple slaw and onion rings as sides and they were amazing! My hubby had the Cajun salmon which was good too. We were too full for pudding but they looked great! Def book in advance as it was really busy. The service was good tho and they didn't rush us at the end of our meal. Pretty standard price for Stockholm but not cheap. Really recommend it!

“Nice bar, good burgers”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

This is a good lively bar with a buzzing atmosphere. Lots of people coming and going. We had some food from the bar menu- both meals were really good. The sides were quite big so definitely 1 between 2 is plenty. My partner (a self appointed burger expert) says the patty was very good and in a nice brioche bun. I think this place is more of a trendy informal meal out, as it's not cheap enough to be an everyday place. Or a cheap meal for a tourist.

“Fun neighbourhood pub!”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

Once the sticker shock subsided, I was able to appreciate a delicious meal at Marie Laveau, a trendy and fun neighbourhood pub frequented by hipster Swedes... For 714 SEK or approximately $120 CDN, we had delicious and perfectly grilled smoked sausage, home fries, crispy onion rings, homemade sauerkraut and pickled okra... accompanied by OmniPollo's Leon beer, a perfect dinner on a cold winter night!
