“Fabulous Swedish Food served in a cosy atmosphere”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Ulla Winbladh is located in Djurgården, a big park not too far from the central parts of Stockholm.

This restaurant is an amazing place to enjoy a fabulous meal or drink not only during the summers, but also during the winter.

Summertime, the green scenery outside the restaurant makes you feel like you are outside the city - enjoying yourself in the countryside.

Wintertime, when covered in snow, the house of Ulla Winbladh looks like house from a fairytale and the atmosphere is fantastic.

Overall, the inside of the restaurant has a clean and traditional style of design to it.
The sommelier is without a doubt one of the best in Stockholm - and has managed to really come up with fantastic suggestions on which wine to go for, during every single one of my visits.

So what about the food? You get traditional swedish food, cooked with passion and dedication.
From the swedish meatballs (fantastic) to all the different types of steak and fish dishes (try any of the salmon dishes) - they are all amazing.

The food is great, and it comes served with a smile. And you can enjoy it in a VERY cosy atmosphere.

If you are looking for a modern, ultra hip and busy restaurant, then Ulla Winbladh is probably not what you are looking for.
But if you want to take your family or loved one out to a great restaurant that serves traditional swedish food, in a nice and cosy atmosphere then there are few restaurants that can match Ulla Winbladh.

“The best restaurant on Djurgarden”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

This is like eating in the country at a old inn...everything about the experience is great.
the food, service and setting are beautiful. The out side seating is great in nice weather but the inside has its own charm.

When in Stockholm this is a must!

“Great restaurant to have lunch while walking the museums”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

We ate at Ulla Windbladh in the middle of our "museum day," as we strolled through all three of the major museums on that island. This restaurant appeared to be the best of the few that was out there, and offered an attractive outdoor patio that had many, many tables, thus there was no wait. However, on rainy days, their inside dining rooms are also VERY nice, with Old World charm and décor, and seating for a lot of people.

I ordered a dish I had been considering since we arrived in Sweden; Swedish meatballs! They were really nice - moist and tasty. They were served with some well-prepared potatoes and veggies, and a side dish of Lingonberries, which I had never tried. I guess they are a staple over in Sweden, but unknown back in the States. Anyway, they were wonderful, as was the entire meal. Everyone enjoyed their dishes as much as me.

This was a really nice meal in a gorgeous restaurant. I would gladly return, and I recommend the same for anyone else.

“Don't miss this restaurant”
Reviewed August 8, 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed the best of Sweden at Ulla Windblads last evening. First of all the charming restaurant is located in Djurgarden, a beautiful wooded park virtually in the heart of the city. Reminds us of a lovely country estate from the 1800's.

We ordered pickled herring, graved lax, cod from the Lofoten islands and perch. Each of the fish courses was treated with the respect and care oh-so- fresh fish deserves. After eating pickled herring in the US, I had forgotten how good this dish can be: delicate, fresh and never overpowered by the pickling. My cod was perfectly poached to be firm yet flakey and perfectly delicate in flavor. The perch was served in an exquisite sauce that reminded us of a subtle shrimp bisque.

By American standards the prices were high and the service was satisfactory but not particularly warm. Nevertheless the quality of the food and the charm of the restaurant overcame any criticisms.

We can't wait to return -- we find it the perfect introduction to Sweden.

“Gorgeous Outdoor Restaurant with Delicious Swedish Food”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

My friends and I decided to have a relaxed mid-afternoon luncheon and this restaurant was absolutely perfect. The restaurant has a large and adorable outdoor eating area shaded by the colorful tent. The wait staff was attentive and fun. For example, one of my guests was reluctant to try the herring, so the waitress brought a sample of the herring for him to try with the traditional Swedish meatballs he had ordered. It was charming. The food was wonderful. I ordered the Swedish meatballs with lingonberries. The presentation was gorgeous and the main was delicious. We also enjoyed wine and beer which was served with a flair and was fun.
