“Constant - no surprises - excellent food and wines”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

When in Stockholm and in search of fine dining, this restaurant should be one of your first options (especially since lux changed their strategy).
It is conveniently located in the center of the city, literally a stone's throw away from the Sheraton hotel and about 500 m from the central station.
I've been there now 7 or 8 times and have never been disappointed. This time was no exception.
They have a tasting menu that changes every month. It is typical French cuisine with a toch of the Swedish traditional kitchen (at least this time). The wines are extraordinary, congratulations to the sommelier who knows what he/she is doing. This restaurant learnt me to appreciate the German and Austrian Riesling wines of which they must have a huge selection.
To get a feel of a typical tasting menu, see the attached picture of the menu. Everything was just delicious ; not one dissonance!
It's not cheap but knowing that alcoholic drinks in Sweden are very expensive, the overall cost of a tasting menu with accompanying wines, aperitif and coffee remains acceptable. It will make you around 5000 SEK lighter.
And the lady who served us was very kind and extremely helpful.
To end with a nice annecdote : the name of the restaurant comes from its address : Fredsgatan 12 (hence F12). However is a few years, the entrance is not in that street anymore but moved to Rödbodtorget 2 (just around the corner).

“Highly overrated and WAY overpriced! My first Tripadvisor disappointment”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

I choose pretty much all my hotels and eateries based on rating on TA… This is the first time I’ve felt let down. the reviews led me to think this would be something special. Sure, it has some ambience, but it’s a cross between TGI Fridays and the Jimmy Buffett fan club.

It turns out that on Sunday evenings, they only do a buffet…(not Jimmy) A very “nothing special” buffet… grilled meat by the pile, but served up somewhere SO dark you can’t see what you are choosing. Barbeques are no longer something exotic… this certainly wasn’t. The salads were uninteresting and the vegetables were drenched in a dressing that just tasted funny....

Three drinks, two buffet portions (much left as not very nice) and two acceptable desserts… £100

There are betters places for less money... Watford Gap Services for example.

“Excellent food, outrageous prices”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

Had a dinner with friends/colleagues.

Apetizers ok, meat absolutely fantastic, nothing special about the veggies. Nice desserts (but again not otherwordly), and good wine/beer drinks were had in a very cozy atmosphere (decor is definitely interesting).

Bill came in at 1000SEK a person, $150... It would have been 5 stars at $80-90...

“Swedish modern cuisine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

Expert attentive staff, creative, artistic and imaginative dishes that tasted as good as they looked. A wonderful dining experience - culinary surprises delivered a memorable meal. Pride and passion in cooking was evident in this presentation. A great example of what is happening in Stockholm cuisine!

“Night out in the summer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

A good place to go out in Stockholm , particular in the summer. If you go to the club, the music and probably lots of young people hanging out in its terrace, can be a good option to having fun in the city.
