“A Fair Stopover”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

Good, central, safe, easy to reach from rail station. Dorms underground, which is fine by me. In a city like Stockholm that can easily see you watch money fly away...relatively good value. Adjacent local shop and bakery down the street. Somewhere to use as a base for exploring the city and beyond for sure.

Positive points: friendly staff, free wifi and internet computers, close to central train station(10 min by foot), there are supermarkets near. Quiet neighborhood and hostel.
Negative points: no free towels or sheets even for a single room(pay attention they ask for 3 pieces of bed linen: a sheet, a cover for the pillow and other for the duvet). There isn’t a lavabo in single room. The shower is not so private, it is in a room with many showers separated each one by a wall.
In general is a very good place to stay in Stockholm

The room and Hostel are very clean, the staff is very helpful and friendly. Room with good size and very well cared for common area. Near the center and several attractions, you can do much walking. I recommend

We booked a double room thinking it is a double bed but was given a room with 2 bunk beds. When asked for a double bed, we were told all the double bed rooms are given out. The next best option was 2 single beds side by side. We had to take that since we brought a double bed sheet (all bed linens are chargeable separately).

The rooms are below the road with no windows. Stifling and no ventilation. Thankfully it is quite cool outside. But wet towel won't get dry.

The room is tiny and everything is Ikea. It is basic and clean. The shared bathrooms only have a few shower cubicles so we tried to shower before the crowd came. There is nowhere to hang towel or clothes inside the shower cubicles. So you have to hang your clothes outside and get them after you shower. Suggest the hostel have a few 3M hanger hooks inside the shower cubicles. The control of the water is also unpredictable with intermittent hot and cold water in the men's shower cubicle.

The shared kitchen is modern and clean. Equipped with microwave, 1 induction cooker (4 heads), plates and cutlery, etc. However, please note that the stove is closed by 8 pm. Residents take turns to cook and wash up. The sitting area consists of a few tables and there is a separate tv room with sofa.

The supermarket Coop is around the corner. The central train station is about 15 min walk away (with luggage). There is free wi-fi but the speed is slow and coverage unstable.

Overall, its a cheap basic and clean hostel. However, charging for bed linens is petty and the room can be better ventilated with strong wi-fi coverage.

Short: A fresh and clean hostel, conveniently located in the center of Stockholm, for a decent amount of money. Small room, but big enough for just spending the nights. Nice personnel. Rules over-announced and surveillance cameras questionable.

Long: The hostel was very fresh and well-cleaned. Our room (with 1 bunk bed) was big enough, considering we only used it for sleeping and relaxing. We had a room with a window in the ceiling. The location on Kungsholmen was very convenient, since it was within walking distance to the central station.
The common areas were mostly pretty empty of people. The kitchen had all the necessary equipment. HOWEVER, the stove was only available to use during the reception openings hours (09-20), which was an unpleasant surprise the first evening. They could have advertised that restriction better. The only sign was at the stove, which we did not check before we went grocery shopping. The fact that there is only one stove might also become a problem during peak season. Also, we never found the hairdryers that are mentioned on the web page.

The various notes around the hostel informing you how much it would cost you if you break the rules makes it feel a bit too regulated. Might only be a precaution though, seeing how the personnel themselves were friendly and helpful.

I stayed in this hostel for two nights before relocating to the Gamla Stan, that was the plan, however, and not a reflection on this hostel which I really enjoyed. The rooms are a bit of a squeeze, but they are clean and the beds are very comfortable. The staff is great and very helpful, and the location is wonderful both in terms of proximity to the central station (within walking distance) and to other parts of the city. There are also a number of bars and restaurants near by. The common room is nice and the bathrooms have plenty of space so you don't feel like you're on top of people in there. I would definitely stay here again while visiting Stockholm. The one thing about this hostel is that there is no bar, not all hostels need to have them, but it's always a nice perk. I'd still go back regardless, however.

I loved staying at this hostel. The staff are genuinely lovely people. Always at hand to help you with anything you need. Great location with plenty of relatively cheap (it's Stockholm remember) places to eat. The rooms themselves are basic, however, they are clean and pretty much standard as you would expect with a hostel. The common room more often then not when I was there was taken over by a gang of loud Spanish people. Still, it was a nice relaxed environment otherwise. Def worth another visit. When I'm back in Stockholm I know where I'll be staying.

Room Tip: Room 5 is pretty awesome.
