“Very good location but poor quality”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2009

Me and my b/friend spent three nights at this hotel in the heart of Stockholm city. The very first impression was that we were given another room with bunk bed instead of double bed and this made us feel bad at first. But then they gave us a room with a pretty narrow double bed and a single bunk bed above. The room was extremely narrow and dark. But there is air condition and a ventilator in the room. The bathroom was enough to survive the basic needs.

The staff was various. A few ladies were very kind and helpful and cheerful, while a few others were really cold and distant. But since we did not plan to spend much time at the hotel in our trip, we were satisfied due to its location and convenience.

But if you are looking for a romantic stay in Stockholm, this hotel is not for you!

I don't mind small. I don't mind no-frills. What I do mind is a cheap boat with poor ammenities passing itself off as a hotel. This is a tired old structure which has, in the past, been shot at, sunk, revamped, failed as a leisure craft and re-invented as a 'hotel'. It seems to have failed in all arenas. This place makes Ibis hotels look like 5-star resorts. The room was depressingly small and smelled.

You get what you pay for. Plain accommodation. No frills, no toiletries. Extremely small rooms. Toilet/sink/shower combo as expected onboard boat - no shower tray, ergo soaked bathroom floor. Towels thin and harsh. Toilet paper was exactly that - paper. Bedding not changed during week's stay, nor was any 'ecological request' to save water offered as reason. No housekeeping during stay.

There is no romance or charm to this place WHATSOEVER. The rooms are dingy and incredibly small. My partner could SPAN the room with both arms. Because of Ryanair's overpriced baggage, we'd only packed carry-ons. Good thing, because a regular-sized piece of luggage would've completely taken up the patch of free space between the wooden-frame mattress and toilet/shower combo area.

Breakfast buffet offered 1 small tray each of 3 assorted processed meats, 1 sm tray cheese, 1 bowl boiled eggs, 1 bowl sliced cucumbers, 1 tube salmon spread, 2 small bowls jam, 2 baskets thinly sliced bread, 2 jars cereal, yoghurt, milk, weak fruit juice, very good strong coffee. Exact same items on offer for a week - aside from addition of raw peppers one morning. The 'hotel' boasts a restaurant but in the week we were there not a soul availed themselves of the service, which comprised of a few items scratched onto a chalk board.

"TV room" has wicker chairs with stuffing portruding out, dirty cutlery on TV stand remained there a few days before it was removed. 'Smoking room' is outside balcony facing the water, could use a clean.

Some rooms identified with numbers written on pieces of tape and affixed to doors. Tools, empty beer kegs, fans and cleaning materials scattered throughout hallways. Exposed pipes and insulation, poorly lit hallways.

Tube station a quick walk, some good restaurants and shops on main street before getting to tube station. Young people running hotel seemed to have their own party going and guests were an afterthought. Nothing charming, romantic or engaging about the hotel.

One employee was helpful and gave us some good tips on sights and transport options. This boat should really advertise itself as a hostel - it has a certificate in the lobby for a top hostel award in 2006. It probably would not get the same rating if someone were to visit.

We have just got back from staying here and it is great for what you pay for.

The room is small. I mean SMALL. It has a double bed and a bed side table THATS IT! and a small bathroom (shower, sink toilet) but if you are like us and just used it to sleep then it is spot on!

It is a 5min walk to Gamla Stan and a 5 min walk to Sodermalm shops so your not far away from anything!

Breakfast in the morning is basic but very good and the view is gorgeous from the porthole at sunrise across the river to Gamla Stan.

We did have a problem with the shower one morning not having hot water, but we did get up about 11am after everyone else had used theirs, but stil its a hotel and should provide hot water for everyone.

All in all though a really place to stay if you spend all your time outside the hotel!

I stayed at the Loginn hotel with a friend of mine for three nights.
Our room (cabin) was small, with two single beds (bunk beds), and a private bathroom.

It was very clean and we had new towels every day.
Breakfast, included in the rate, was a little bit poor, no fresh fruit, but, we just paid 80,00 euro per room!!

The boat is located in a very central position. It's less than 5 minutes far from the metro station (Mariatorget) and about 10 min far from the old town.

I think that it's a good value if you are going to stay in Stockholm for a short brake.

Rob

The LogInn Hotel is very cheap and its location is great (only a few minutes on foot from the centre - Gamla Stan). Breakfast is good and generous. But staff is very cold and anonymous. Room cleaning wasn't done (forgotten?) for a few days (5 days in 7). Ship wasn't stationary (got little dizziness). At one night some guests made love savagely and vomited (we heard everything and it wasn't nice). Rooms and aisles are very narrow and some places outside the room are a bit dirty and neglected. But in spite of all it's very cheap and in a good location. However we didn't spend much time in the hotel (just for sleeping).

LogInn Hotel is a lowbudget hotel in Stockholm.
The rooms are small, but who stays inside when you can explore Stockholm. The breakfast is okey, missing some fruits.
The staff is professional and friendly. Like the guys on the boat!

No TV's in the room, but a lounge where you can meet new friends, play cards, watch DVD, sing karaoke and dring beer in the bar.

LogInn is a must!

My husband and I stayed at the LogInn on the first leg of our Scandinavian holiday. We found this place by accident on the internet, and took a chance. We loved it! Being travelers that don't sit in the room and watch TV while on vacation, we were pleased with the room that we had. Yes, the room was small, but it's a boat, so what are you expecting??. We had a very comfortable double bed, and being newly married, we didn't mind that we had to cuddle :)

There wasn't a lot of storage space, but we travel light, so this didn't affect us at all. We had enough hangers for our coats and sweaters, and our backpacks fit neatly under the shelf in the corner.

We had two portholes that faced the city, and we were there just as it started to cool off, so lack of A/C was not an issue.

The bathroom was small but clean. We'll call it "efficient".

We did not eat on the boat for any meals because we were always gone exploring at that time, so I can't comment on that aspect.. There is a grocery store on the street between the hotel and the Mariatorget stop. We took advantage of this when we were heading out to catch our train to Oslo.

The location is pretty darn good for what we paid for this room. We were about 3-4 blocks straight up the street from the Mariatorget metro stop, and about a 10 minute walk from Gamla Stan. We spent the majority of our time in Gamla Stan because there is always something going on. We did not have one bad dining experience (except for sticker shock!), and we found several greats bars and pubs to hang out in after the museums had closed. As another reviewer pointed out, we felt completely safe walking in this city, even late at night/early in the morning.

The only problem that we encountered was that we were double charged when we checked in. This was brought to our attention and rectified before we left the ship. The staff seemed friendly and helpful.

  • Liked — Fantastic location, helpful staff, clean
  • Disliked — rooms are small, but we knew this going in
