Spent a week at Nordic Light on business. Great location and rooms, plus reasonable rates. This place is close to everything. It is close to everything, train station, bus stop, casino, restaurants. One minute train walk and 3 minute to bus stop. I took a cab from airport and paid 500, took a bus back to airport and paid 99. Could have taken a train for 259. Everything is super convenient.

The Nordic Light Hotel Stockholm is a modern, and pretty cool 4 start hotel directly at the Arlanda Express station in central Stockholm. It is well located, the rooms are bright and funky and the service and conference facilities excellent. And it has the fastest free WiFi I have ever encountered right throughout the hotel. So highly recommended.

But it has a quirk which needs to be flagged. The Nordic Light promotes itself as the "first hotel in the world to have meat free Monday". Yes on a Monday forget any chance of getting any food with meat in it. So forget the fact that you are spending big money on a vacation and all the treats that go along with spoiling yourself. If you want bacon and eggs for breakfast on Monday morning then you are out of luck. Interestingly when asked, the waitress in the restaurant said that she couldn't understand the hotels policy not to serve guests what they want and that she "hated working Monday" as a result. And the number of hotels guests walking out of the restaurant on Monday was a clear indication that paying hotel guests don't like nanny state hotels telling them what they can and can't eat.

If you are at the Nordic Light any other day expect a fantastic buffet breakfast with all the trimmings. A real selling point and very popular it would seem given the crowd.

But come on a Monday and it is faux meat, baked beans and fish whether you like it or not. But you can for sure get your pick of tables.

Dear Guest,

I am glad to read that you enjoyed our hotel, but less happy that you did not enjoy our Meat Free Mondays.

This is a way for us to inspire to new ways of working with sustainability in the field of hospitality. The Meat Free Monday-project encourages people all over the world to reduce their meat consumption. It’s a simple, yet effective way to help slow climate change which we are proud to be a part of - and we know that many of our guest appreciate this initiative.

You can read more about it on our website, if you are curious to know more about why we have chosen Meat Free Mondays.

We continuously strive to improve the service we provide towards our guests and also to stand behind the decisions that the hotel is working for, but obviously we have not managed this time.
The personal opinion is of course different many times.

I hope to see you with us soon again!

My wife and I stayed three nights on a recent weeklong swing through Scandinavia. We had picked this hotel through recommendations on tripadvisor and were very happy with our choice. It could not be more convenient to the train station, and we found the location to be within walking distance of Gamla Stan and many of Stockholm's sites. The breakfast buffet had a large variety of high quality foods (don't miss the little home made muffins with cinnamon on top), the room was fairly large by European standards and the hotel has a hip vibe without that self-concious "trying too hard to be cool" feel some places have. In the evening, the quite nice lobby bar area can be packed with business types (to the point where one night we really couldn't get in for a drink) but one can hardly fault the hotel for being popular. The staff was also quite friendly and helpful. One issue is the lighting in the rooms is for style and not for doing anything that requires, well, light. That minor point aside it's a great hotel and we plan to stay there again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Upper and lower floors may have different outdoor "nordic light" effects. Check with hotel...

We were looking for a hotel that was right off the Arlanda Express station at T-Centralen in Stockholm but did not really consider this property at the start. We were considering the Frey Hotel and Adlon Hotel. The Arlanda Express website shows a convenient map of the hotels not to far from the station and is where I saw Nordic LIght as the closest to the station. Upon checking their website they had a great deal during the dates we were visiting.

Once we got off the Arlanda Express train, we were literally steps away from the entrance to the hotel. Nordic Sea was actually the closest, but Nordic Light had the better value. It had a similar vibe as the Square Hotel in Copenhagen, Demark paying tremendous homage to Scandinavian design. Check-in was a breeze and we were given our keys to our room facing Vasaplan, the main street.

The rooms were nicely laid out, and our bathroom had a separate bathtub and shower areas. They do play a theme on lights where you could change the backlighting of the headboard among red, blue, green, and purple. Even the TV had backlighting that changed colors depending on the main background color. The heavily insulated windows, when closed, helped minimize the sounds from outside, so even light sleepers should have no problems on front-facing rooms.

The nicest feature that was included with the room was the huge breakfast spread that was available each morning. While Stockholm is rather expensive this was a nice way to load up on daily fuel to get you through the day with little breaks to enjoy and partake in the Swedish "fika".

The hotel was within walking distance to T-Centralen as well as the main shopping street of Drottininggatan that would also lead you to Gamla Stan. It is also a couple blocks away from the free weekday bus to Ikea.

Room Tip: As mentioned, windows are heavily insulated so loud noises from Vasaplan were minimized. Also, the...

Excellent location as close to the old town and shopping places. A bit pricey, especially for the room i was initially offered with a mini bed for a mini space (dwars around in sweden). For an upgrade (humans pay more than dwarfs) i got an acceptable room. Nice design if that what u are looking for.

Stayed here on a business trip for one night. Just a few metres from the Arlande Express train, you can hardly find a more convenient location . The hotel design and interior is nice and modern, the rooms are of good quality (nice beds, clean, high standard). The lobby area is very nice and stylish, with a great ambience (especially with a DJ playing there in the evening).
The breakfast buffet is good, with a nice selection of food and drink.

We booked this place directly via the internet and after searching loads of places seemed to fit what we were looking for. Firstly the location is ideal it is in the middle of Stockholm making anywhere with in easy reach, 2ndly as the Sweeds are so practical, the express train line from the airport, goes directly to the centre of town. Meaning the hotel is 1 minute walk from the platform.
The rooms were modern and OK (you get what you see on the web), they are very quiet and clean and everything works really well.
I do not know if it is just that things in Sweden just work, or if it is just this hotel? but check in took one minute, everyone spoke perfect English, the swipe key worked first time, the breakfast was incredible and every single person that worked here were brilliant. Check out took 30 seconds and was told not to worry about anything I took from the Mini bar!
100% recommend this place, perfect location, great staff, decent room, good size..
