Ibis Styles Stockholm Odenplan

Easy to find very close to subway and bus station.
Complete breakfast and a very comfortable room.
It seems that is a rehabilitated building, with a success rehab!!
At the end, it didn't feel like a common IBIS hotel.

It is always exciting to arrive in a city you have not been to before, and then rubbish to have that experience spoilt by the actions of a hotel. In this case specifically told the hotel that we were travelling with a two year old and needed a cot (as I have had enough of bed sharing and like my sleep!), to find they had no cots available and no other rooms (apparently). What is the point of asking if they are not going to carry out your request?- or at last let you know they have no cots so you can choose another hotel! The staff at the hotel seemed indifferent to help and just stood there until we left for the room. Its a little thing I know, but very irritating when you leave a specific request. It's not a bad hotel but my experience was not good and I would expect much more from an Accor hotel.

6 of us stayed here in the middle of the city. Each room looks really unique. My friends room had a beautiful looking fireplace and my room had big windows and high ceilings. The breakfast was really good and exceeded my expectation. The typical breakfast I've encountered in Europe usually only consists of bread, jam, cheese and ham. Ibis Style had scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, herring, cereal, different kinds of bread, hardboiled eggs and more. Bed was very comfortable. Memorable stay for a chain hotel.

I've stayed in this little gem of a hotel a few times, most recently in January 2014.
The location is perfect and it offers you a comfortable nights sleep in the heart of Stockholm.
Breakfast is a bit lacklustre but will provide you with the basic muesli and yoghurt, as well as the breads, hams and cheeses etc. Coffee is good, as in most places in the Nordics and you can get a good start for the day.
I stayed both times in a single room, they are small but perfectly formed - might not be suitable for tall people as the ceiling sloped down quite low in both rooms I stayed.
You will find a grocery shop within 5min walk, as well as nice restaurants in the area, also the tunnelbana station is right around the corner.
All in all a great base for exploring the beautiful city of Stockholm

Room Tip: Check in advance if the room has high or low ceiling to avoid disappointment

the rooms are super small but i have to be honest i slept like a baby, how i showered on the other hand is another story. if you must have room in the bathroom this is not for you. on the good side breakfast was good, i was very surprised, i thought it might be like the bathroom #### but it wasn't.

Room Tip: a twin room is larger than a double both in bathroom and bedroom

This property was very easy to find from Odenplan station, less than 2 minutes' walk from any of the station's exits. The exit at the front of the train as it heads out of Stockholm city centre is nearest. For anyone used to a typical Ibis property (modern, functional, bland) this one is very different, an old building squeezed between many more old buildings.

Reception was quick and friendly, telling us all we needed to know in good English. There is a single lift, which seems adequate as most of the six floors have less than ten rooms on them. The room was a surprise, even by Ibis standards it was tiny! Barely room to walk past the beds to the window. This is not helped by some silly 'modern art' on the wall which impedes walking space. The beds themselves were very comfortable.

The bathroom was small, but this is de rigeur for Ibis properties. It did seem quite modern though, although lighting was limited meaning the shower area was extremely dark. Free wifi is provided throughout the property and was very welcome.

The lower ground floor (below reception) hosted a small guest 'lounge' with coffee machine, tea bags, some comfortable seating and a television. We used this rather than the room for socialising because the room was so small: this lounge is a welcome facility. Next door is the breakfast room (7-10 weekdays, 8-11 weekends) with a typical continental European selection of meats, cheeses and breads with a small hot selection (I say hot, as there is no means of keeping the hot food hot it got lukewarm quickly). Breakfast room was pleasant and not cramped at all, and the staff were friendly and efficient at bringing fresh food out.

Whilst not in the centre of Stockholm Odenplan is convenient with the T-Bana running to the city centre and commercial/tourist centres. It is three stops to the central station. If all you need is a comfortable bed, a decent shower and some breakfast this hotel is great. If you need to spend time in your room and needs table/desk (i.e. travelling on business) this hotel is not for you. In the right circumstance I would return.

Room Tip: High floor facing the street overlooks the church opposite in the main square.
