Clarion Hotel Stockholm
Ranked #41 of 154 Hotels in Stockholm
Reviewed January 9, 2012

Here travellers needs have been analyzed, and the hotel has successfully been designed to meet those needs. Good beds, excellent sound proofing, sufficient breakfast and restaurant options, affordable price. If you can, have breakfast early, as later it is very busy. There is no coffee/tea making facilities in room, nor a safe. Towels in two colours is a great idea, first time I've seen that in a hotel. Free wifi, ask code from reception.

An economy room puts you in a 4star hotel for a hostel price. honestly, the cheapest private double with ensuit in town, but it is very tight, and best for a single or close couple.
The 4 star breakfast is the highlight of the hotel. Recomend the awesome red-berries on museli, pancakes or potatoes. A mix of Swedish and continental foods. Waffles in Saturdays only. Vegan, organic and gluten free options.
Excellent location on the T-bana. Recommend a 24hr or 72hr train pass for best sightseeing in town. Shopping, pubs and supermarket less than 1 block.
Excellent staff, happy to offer a plug adaptor for my North American laptop. Free wifi with no issues.
Spa costs $$. Try to public pool across the street for cheaper fun.
Only thing that could have been better was a kettle in the room...

Room Tip: Economy rooms are very small and afordable.

I stayed here for several days while visiting Stockholm in June. I researched carefully and finally found what seemed a good value rate for otherwise extremely expensive Stockholm. I had some trepidation about the location at the southern edge of the "historic" center. This apprehension immediately subsided while strolling from the Hotel into the center...the neighborhood is the charming Sodermalm (of Dragon Tattoo fame) and chock full of cafes, cheapish eats, supermarkets and a state liquor store across the street from the Hotel. I had bought a three-day transport pass (US$32) to beat the ridiculous single trip pricing for the t-banen (US$6.50) and ended up using it sparingly. The weather was so beautiful and the walk into town so fun. The neighborhood ha s a very "local" ambiance which I have never realized when staying in the "center" either near the train station or on the historic island. The Hotel is stylish (not what one would normally equate with a US Clarion) with a welcoming huge lobby. The reception staff were extraordinarily helpful and polite. My room was ingenuously bright, with what appeared a narrow window space maximizing light through the well-designed very modern medium-sized room. The breakfast buffet is amazing, even by generous Swedish standards. I had literally not a single complaint and would stay here again.

This a high-grade 4-star hotel experience. Everything looks great inside and staff are friendly. Location is super-convenient - right by Skanstull metro station. I asked for a toothbrush and this was provided at no charge. The rooms are on the small side but fine. I would note that the breakfast buffet is very good and there are many healthy options that I enjoyed such as linseeds, pumpkin seeds etc that you can add to cereal or yoghurt - you would not always see such items in a hotel breakfast. The pillows on the beds are a little uncomfortable and too bulky. Airport transfer was handled very well.

I stayed in this hotel for the second time on the weekend.

You can check-in at any time of day or night. The reception staff are always helpful and the response to a query is usually "of course!"

The cheapest rooms are on the small side, so it is best to pay a bit more for the next catgory. The beds are incredibly comfortable, although some might find the pillows a bit big. The television unfortunately does not have any music channels. The windows seem to be triple glazed and the heating works well. The toiletries are a little bit ordinary but the bathrooms are very spotless.

I stay at this hotel for the huge breakfast buffet. It's healthy and there are just so many options. It's lovely sitting by the windows and watching the view. This is why I was disappointed on this recent stay when immediately upon the last time of entry to breakfast (10.30am), the staff started packing up all the utensils so you could not take food anymore (or you could take it with your fingers…), turning the lights up and even vacuuming all around you to try to kick you out. They don't actually ask you to leave as they would in some places, but it would just be a perfect experience were it not for this. Stockholm is a city where people stay up late on a Saturday night and sleep in given how dark it is, it would be great to cater better for the night owls in this sense.

It's incredibly well-located right by the Skanstull metro station and there is a fantastic indoor swimming pool complex right next door.

The hotel is a nice modern hotel. It is within walking distance of the old town about 20minutes away. If bounden,t feel like walking the underground is right outside the door. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There is a lot of choice for breakfast and the food is very nice. The bedroom was very spacious and the shower was great.
