I've been there a few times over the years with friends from out of town. The only time it's really worth it to go there is if it's a sunny day with a clear sky. Otherwise everything is just going to look really grey and dull from up there.

Another thing that really bothers me are the prices. The lift up there costs 30 SEK, which is cheap, but the coffee and food at the café is ridiculously expensive. I think we paid 120-150 SEK for two cups of coffee and some small cookies last time I was there. Don't go there on an empty stomach.

Even though it doesn't look that great outside - it is great inside, modern lift to the top and really nice view - great pictures opportunity :)

The view was ok but the observation deck was dirty and with broken glass etc. A 4 year old could not reach to see out.

The best view of Stockholm from above – great place for aerial photos – worth a visit especially in the summer when all is green – can be quite chilly in the winter - also good for grabbing some coffee and cakes or even a lunch. Of course there are other places for good aerial view closer to city centre – but not as high as kanknästornet.

If you go there with the idea of taking nice shots, go straight to the upper observation deck.
The deck is got an awful grid that will ruin any atempt to take a picture... but you can ask for a key to open the small "windows" on the grid (I think they use them for binoculars normally).
If you try to open them in winter, the locks might be frozen. To defrost them, breath heavily into the lock hole for about 30 -60 seconds, then you should be able to open it.
