I was traveling with my two friends and absolutely loved the place. The location was great, few minutes walk to the tube and city center within 10-15 minutes walk (even in the winter). We got a very big, spacious studio, with one bedroom and a living room. The bathroom was very spacious. Everything was clean as supposed. We had some problems with hot water, but the problem was fixed very fast. Staff was helpful. It does not have 24 h reception, but the place is extremly secure and safe. There was a possibility of leaving our bags in a locked luggage room, as we had a late departure. And, upon all, the price for this location is great! I would definitely stay there again if going to Stockholm.

For me this was a good choice of hotel based on price, location, quality and breakfast and I would recommend as a good combination of all the above. The hotel suited my needs very well for 3 nights while quickly visiting Stockholm in mid-August.

Good points;

- Easy to walk into centre along (the largely pedestrianised) Drottninggatan or the Radmansgatan T-bana station is only a few blocks and some steps east
- Friendly and helpful staff (polite on check in and out, answered several questions on directions, buses etc)
- Good breakfast (you share this with Lilla Radmannen guests so you get a 3 star breakfast of cold meats, bread, cereal etc but sleep in a 2 star hotel)
- Clean, spacious rooms
- Secure (keypad to get into the block, then a further keypad to the hotel corridor and finally your room key)

Drawbacks;

- Uninspiring staircase up to the 4th and 5th floors (but still felt safe – and there is a lift)
- I stayed in room 419 which had a WC and wash basin in the room, however, the room’s shower was located in the next room along the corridor (although it was very large and spacious). This meant I had to nip out into the corridor when going/returning from a shower and had to lock my room etc. In the end it was not too much of an inconvenience but room for improvement.

I chose this hotel a little by default, as I had made an online booking using the FREYS hotel website, and overlooked the non-refundable booking terms for the earlybird reservation - so do look out for the smallprint when using their website. Having said that, it turned out to be a great twist, as the hotel, which does look rather unremarkable from the outside, and could do with a bit of jazzing up on the communal staircase, has very beautifully, yet simply designed rooms. The rooms are spacious enough for the geenral purpose of a city tourist visit, good quality beds, mini bar, writing desk and internet access. In the summer it can be on the warm side, with no A/C, but the street is very quiet, so not too much disturbance if the windows are left open. The bathrooms have a little bit of a hospital feel about them, but they are spacious enough for one person at a time, and certainly clean. We really enjoyed being in a quiet area of Stockholm, yet we were within walking distance from one of the main shopping streets in Stockholm, and the subway was also within a 3 minute walk from the hotel for a quick journey to the contral points of Stockholm.
The breakfast room did not appeal to us, too much of a youth hostel feel, but we did enjoy the fact that we could grab our selection of breakfast items, which was on the basic side but sufficient, and escaped to the lovely roof terrace.
The room was certainly clean, as was the bathroom; the restaurant and roof terrace were not being given that same attention, but it was within reason.
For the early bird rate that we enjoyed for a 3 night stay in the summer, this is a great find, I would chose it again. In winter I might try somewhere more central, and with a btter comfort and service level in the food & beverage areas one wants to use in a hotel.

In an expensive city like Stockholm, this hotel is of super good value! a double room with private shower for 2 nights for SEK 2064 (given that we booked it quite last-minute), only 2 blocks away from the busiest shopping street in Stockholm, and a supermarket around the corner, I think I got a quite good deal! It was the Swedish princess's wedding when we travelled in Stockholm, and the hotel staff explained everything including the background of the princess's groom in details! There was no hair dryer in room so you have to ask for it at the reception next door. If I travel to Stockholm again, i'll definitely return to this hotel!

You will probably need a taxi to find this hotel which is about 5 minutes from the Train Station. Station staff advise that you should take your taxi from the Vasagatan entrance because they have stricter controls. Hotel Bakfickan was not staffed when I visited and I had to visit the Hotel Lilla Radmannen, two doors away to register. You are provided with a bedroom door-card and two access codes for the street door & the upper landing door. If you are used to such things all will be well because this is what you will be faced with every time you return to your room. Nevertheless my room was large, pleasant, with a comfortable bed. The shower & WC facilities were clean and all worked well. I wonder if the rooms were designed as holiday apartments because there is a kitchen sink/stove/refrigerator in the room but not connected. A note says they will connect the refrigerator if you need it. Breakfast is available in the Lilla if you wish it. I received a free one and it was very nice... As much as you wish. Additionally you could obtain coffee from Reception bar but it is not open 24 hours. Reception has internet but does charge. Cheaper internet is available from some *7-11* stores. The Reception staff were always friendly and helpful and spoke good English but they are not there after 23:00 hours. Presumably the bedroom telephones will connect to somebody in an emergency. Situated in a nice quiet area with nice cafes & restaurants and an easy 10 minute walk into the centre.

The hotel is run by the Lillarodmannen next door, so to get to the reception you have to go outside. Same applies for breakfast, which was rather expensive (not included in room price) and not particularly good. It's better to go outside for breakfast. The hotel is secured by a locked door with a code, but they change the code every so often and then you have to go all the way down, next door and up again -- very inconvenient. Good blackout curtains and very quiet hotel. A kitchenette is there but not functional. One has to wait for a very long time for hot water in the shower or faucet. Internet connection is very expensive (about 6USD just to connect).

The hotel was located in a quiet street near city centre (Drottninggatan was just around the corner). The nearest metro stop was a few blocks away, but there were outdoor stairs you had to climb to get to the hotel from Sveavägen and the metro stop, which might be difficult for the elderly.

The room was nice and clean in general but it was a bit shocking to find an animal fur on the floor! At first I thought it must be fake, but based on the smell that it ommitted into the room, I guess it was real. Minus points for ignoring animal rights and going back to the stone age!

The breakfast was fine, and there were some Swedish newspapers to read in the breakfast room. The hotel prices in Stockholm seem to be somewhat high so Lilla Rådmannen was a good hotel conserning its rates. The 24hour internet was very expensive.
