I stayed at this hotel for a weekend in September. It is located in a fantastic shopping district and has loads of bars around it. Birger Jarlsgatan is quite an upmarket area, and feels safe to be in. As for the hotel itself, I was on the fifth floor and had a small balcony where you could sit out and look around the street, which was really fantastic. One thing that was a little weird was the no kettle in the bedroom, but you can call reception to get one if you need. The other thing is check that your room has internet as part of the price, the default options would suggest that you have to pay, but I called reception to get the code. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and it's easy to get to the hotel by metro/bus.

Spent one night as frequent flier reward for 2 adjoined rooms: room 402 was Superior (SEK 200 surcharge) and the standard room 403.
Check-in from 3 pm. Staff very polite and nice. Big disapointment is the interactive TV: you can switch it on without confirming the room number by entering it! So, the children did the channel surfing and landed stright to PayTV! I sorted it out later with no problems, but be aware.
There are also few toy dogs in the rooms, possible to buy at check out. Sweet, but trap for children.
Another thing was ear-plugs we found in our rooms. You stop wander about this as night begins: it is SO loud on the neighboring streets!!! I hope this was over the weekend only, but was very disturbing even with ear-plugs provided. But, of course, not fault of the hotel.
Did not found AC: was not really needed. Hotel has kind of central ventilation system, but you cannot regulate it from your room. Wonder, how efficient it works when needed.
Breakfast adequate, but no salmon. Strange for Scandinavia.
All in all: very cosy centrally located hotel, but I would avoid it for week-end stays though!

Hotel Kung Carl is nice place to stay in Stockholm. The room was not very big but it was stylish and decorated with classical furtines. I appreciate personal hotels. Hotel staff was ok but I didn't need their help much because I have been in Stockholm many times. Breakfast was typical scandinavian (= plentiful and versatile)

Went with the lads for a few days to capture the Stockholm nightlife, which is unbelievable.

The hotel was the best location for the clubs and shops. we did not need 1 cab. Not even from the station getting there. Next to all the clubs yet round the corner so no noise.

All the pictures sent round on that email about Sweedish clubs are from Sturplan which is where this hotel is. Absolute top place and top location.

Rooms are nothing special, but good value. All about the town and nightlife.

I just returned from a 2 night stay at Best Western Kung Carl. I had a single room and it was so cute! I really liked having Turbo and her puppies in the room....a funny little touch. The bathroom was of course a little small, but there was plenty of space in the little wardrobe for one person's clothing. The hotel is in a really good location for hitting all the sites in Stockholm...the boat marina is only a few blocks down the street, Old Town is on the island to your right (facing water) and Vasa and other sites are on the island to your left so everything is within walking distance. The hotel front desk staff was extremely nice both on check in and check out. (I don't understand the reviews that say they weren't friendly because everyone I dealt with was extremely helpful) My only complaint about the hotel is the noise...it is not so much the noise from the neighboring bar as it is street noise...the boys zipping down the street on their souped up cars and motorcycles, revving the engines and beeping their horns all hours of the night. So if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs (even the rooms up on the 6th floor had problems with street noise) but other than that, I would really recommmend this hotel.

Brillian Brilliant Brilliant, Myself and 3 friends stayed there because of its central location. We were not disappointed lovely hotel and fantastic rooms, staff were very friendly. Drinks in the bar were expensive but that par for the course in Stockholm. If you fancy a few beers and want to see some of the best looking women in the world then this is on your door step. I guess I dont know about the noise because I was enjoying myself in the 'noise' at the time. Food was great in the hotel. I would go back tomorrow!

Location was very good as it was easy walking to most places.
Room was very clean. Breakfast was average with a very limited choice.
Reception staff could be friendlier and were very stand offish. When we asked directions to Skansen they were suddenly dumb and rude. Making us feel silly. No one to help with the luggage and we had to struggle up the outside stairs into the main entrance by ourselves. Check in and out was quick. We got the impression that they felt they were superior to us.
Friendliest people in the hotel were the cleaner and breakfast helper. Hotel was quaint.
