My experience in this hotel was a better one comparing with Scandic Anglais in the sense that the room we have received was upgraded - initially the room offered was an uncleaned one therfore they have upgraded us to a suite.
It was very clean and spacious, good location, the area is just lovely - around you find a lot of design shops and it's somewhat more a "hipsters" location. A lot of coffee shops and great places to sit around and enjoy.

Room Tip: The suites are lovely

+++ excellent location, clean hotel, friendly staff, free wifi, easy access to subway

- - - no curtains in the top floor rooms so your day starts very early
- - - elevator system is a total mess going up and down and not opening on the right floor

we stayed in stockholm for two nights so we were looking for something near the center. Scandic hotel was not exactly in the city center but on foot you could go there in twenty minutes. Its right outside a train station so theres an easiest and fastest way to go down town if you want,Its very close to Gamla Stan , the old city.Ten minutes walking and its actually a nice walk by the sea.
We stayed in the cabin style room which actually reminded me a ship cabin! No windows in the room, two floors under the reception office but that didnt bother us at all!The only "bad" thing is that we couldnt see the weather from the room, or the daylight, but there was a tv channel with a live cam pointing the street opposite the hotel, so that helped to see the outside world ! :) Clean room, with tv-not so many channels though , desk, chair, one sofa, comfortable bed (actually a bit small for two adults- it was more a 1 1/2 bed than a double bed), but still very comfortable....Also, I quess this is a cultural thing, they have two quilt covers on the bed.One for each person. I havent seen this anywhere else, but in norway they have the same thing...Breakfast was very good.Free wifi....in generakl a fine place to stay!

Room Tip: i dont know about the other kinds of rooms but cabin rooms were ok, if you dont have an issue with h...

Dear PYPtravelers,
Thank you for sharing this nice review. We´re glad to hear you liked our convenient location.
Also nice to hear that you enjoyed our “outside tv-channel”, we think it’s a good service for our guests to see what the weather is like even though choosing to stay in a cabin room :)
Very welcome to stay with us again if you come to Stockholm in the future!
Kind regards,

Great hotel. Well located. Good rooms. They have two bars, one of them is quite crowded with locals. But you can have dinner in one of the many restaurants around.

They have underground rooms, no windows. We take one of those, just because it’s different. I think they are less expensive, but I’m not sure. It was a very dark room when the lights went off (and very silent too).

The breakfast is ok, nothing special, cheese, ham, fish croissant, and great local bread (but the bread in Scandinavia is always great).

The staff show you maps and help you with directions, but they don’t go the extra mile for it.

You will find a metro station just next to the hotel.

If you want to make Millenium Tour (Lisbeth Salender trilogy books), just download the spots from the Internet and walk from the hotel, everything is nearby.

Room Tip: if you are not claustrophobic (or undergroundphobic), give the underground rooms a chance. In the su...

We had room towards the back so it was quite at the beginning. Ten minutes before seven in the morning we realised that we had a room next to the staircase and all folks running down the stairs and children howling in the staircase was not very nice wakeupcall
Breakfast was really good and a lot to choose from, bacon, eggs, several different cheeses and good sortiment of fruits. If we go there again we will ask for a room away from elevators and staircase. Rooms are newly redecorated but the building is old. Bathroom okey but a little small.
Location was very good, close to Gamla Stan, Slussen and subway. Everything in walkingdistance, even a walk from Stureplan was not so far. Close to the boat that goes to Grøna Lund og Wasamuseet

Room Tip: Get a room away from nightclubs, staircase and elevators

My husband and I recently stayed at the Scandic Malmen for 3 nights on our multi-city trip. We had a standard room on the 4th floor, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We made sure not to book a "cabin" room thanks to reading other reviews so we were sure we wouldn't be in the basement rooms with no windows. Location is wonderful - just steps from the Medborgarplatsen metro station and an easy 15 minute walk to Gamla Stan.

The room was small, but that is clearly stated on the website and what we were expecting. Everything was clean and tidy! The bed was comfy, there is a tv in the room (and the great thing about Sweden is that they don't dub over movies, so we could watch movies in english at night), and a desk/chair. The bathroom is small but very clean, and served its intended purpose. We didn't have any noise issues during our stay, our window opened out over the courtyard. No view to speak of, but lots of sunshine.

The breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day - lots of food options, coffee and juice. We left full every morning! It's expensive to eat in Stockholm, so this really added to the value of the hotel in our opinion.

Next time we're in Stockholm, or anywhere else Scandic hotels are available we will definitely consider staying!

Room Tip: Don't book a "cabin" room if you don't want to be in the basement!

location -- excellent
this hotel is for you if you're looking for well-located "base-camp" for your Stockholm city tour and do not mind a bit of life around you. It sits atop an underground station smack in the middle of a buzzing, trendy neighborhood with good choice of bars, restaurants, cultural venues etc. The hotel itself sports a cocktail bar featuring deafening - but cool! - rock-n-roll music until midnight and out the other side of the lobby is a live music stage, though there wasn't anything on during my stay...

room -- pleasant
I read about noise complaints in other reviews ... up in our room on the 4th floor the noise level was ok - I can't complain about that. We travelled with a child, went to bed at a seemly hour and were all able to sleep without earplugs. The room looked like it had been recently renovated. The furnishing was simple but quite tasteful and there was a pleasant atmosphere about the room. The bathroom was small but clean with little space for toiletries. There was a sufficient number of sockets to plug in all manner of electronic devices, chargers and what not one carries around these days ... On one or the 3 days - to my spouse's dismay - the cleaning of the room did not quite meet the highest standards .. so the extremely fussy might have an issue

breakfast: low on service but no one will go hungry .
has that youth hostel feel about it. It's a 100% self-service affair (you also have to lay your table etc.) and a considerable amount of running can be involved until you're fully "set up" also because there's little seating place close to the buffet and the bar areas left and right (with tiny round bar tables) have to serve as extensions of the breakfast area to deal with the hungry crowds. There is a good variety of food in OK quality and sufficient quantity and supplies that threaten to deplete are quickly refilled / stocked up. The breakfast experience wins over youth hostels in the end as at least you don't have to clean up after yourself, a chore kindly and efficiently taken care of by staff

Staff/Service: very good
The reception staff (also the cleaning staff when we asked for extra towels for swimming) were friendly and very helpful. Everybody speaks excellent English, do not know about other language skills as we settled for English

Other facilities: hmm
the bar's had been mentioned, they are not just hotel bars but buzzing venues that in the evening
crowd up with locals and tourists alike. Kind of matched my taste, certainly not ideal for the elderly couple in search of quite, peaceful recreation. Lifts (elevators) are like haunted deer. Besides being tiny they don't wait for anyone not fiercely resolute and physically fit to catch them. It turned out kid of a game that we enjoyed. After all we were on holiday. Some of the restrooms in the public area were close to falling apart but this we found acceptable as long as our room's bath was ok which it was.

Room Tip: try to get a room in an upper floor to get away from street and bar noise
