Stayed here for four nights in August 2013. Located on Sodermalm on the West side, short walk from the Zinkendam tube station, and the popular Hornsgatan. Very peaceful location, but you can be at Slussen, Gamla Stan or T-Central within minutes so great for sight-seeing. We have a very comfortable room. The breakfasts are great and the hotel staff were incredibly helpful. We enjoyed the little lounge and terrace where we could take free coffee & tea and relax. Ask the staff for directions to Tanto Lund, the allotment gardens, just a short walk but definitely worth it. Would definitely use this hotel again as after going all over the city decided this was our favourite area. The Italian restaurant at the end of the street and near tube is very nice for a meal.

I really loved the overall atmosphere and look of the hotel and the beautiful inner court, but our room was way too small. The huge old-fashioned bed was lovely, but it filled the whole room. The bathroom was small too, but tidy and modern. The breakfast was delicious, and it was nice that there was free coffee/tea available in the lobby around the clock. The hotel was situated a bit far from the city centre but there is a tube station nearby.

The rooms--which are very small but clean and well-appointed--have character but the hotel lacks soul. The front desk staff is correct but is not friendly or helpful as one would expect in a small hotel. The same applies to the staff in charge of breakfast who never received guests with a "Good morning" or a smile in the morning and minded their business as if the place were McDonald's. Breakfast is included and good but lacks imagination: it could be served in Buenos Aires or Madrid because there is not a thing that reminds you of Sweden.
The bathroom is new but unbelievable small--think airplane small!-- and I am a 120 pound woman.
The location is great because it is not a touristy neighborhood which I appreciate but it takes quite a long walk to go to tourist attractions--from Old Town to museums like Vasa or Nordisk. We walked everywhere( but you better be fit) and took the metro several times--that is painfully expensive. Also, this is not the funky, popular side of Sodermalm--getting there is a 30-40 minute walk!
With so many options out there, I will definitely try a different hotel in my next visit to Stockholm.

The Hotel Hellstens Malmgard is very special. It is almost like a little castle. Each rooms is designed differently in a very nice old style. Some rooms are very small, some are narrow, but nicely decorated, clean and with new bathrooms.
It is in a very quiet area, but still close to the center of Stockholm. We always walked to see Stockholm. You can't park close to the hotel, but there are different options in the area.

Room Tip: Select the small room only, if you can live with very little space,

We found our room to be very clean and charming. I loved the modern shower and slate bathroom. The room service crepes were delicious, the coffee was fantastic, and the breakfast spread was more than adequate for our needs. Our room, located on the first floor, had a little hallway, then the bathroom and then bedroom. While the bedroom had curtains, the little hallway window did not- we found ourselves opening and overlapping the bathroom and bedroom doors to ensure greater privacy. Curtains would have fixed that issue. The room was beautifully decorated, and yes, small- but we came to explore Stockholm, not hang out extensively in our hotel room, so this was really not an issue for us. I do think this would be a problem for larger families, though. This hotel has more of a cozy, romantic vibe than a family vibe, anyway. The sunroom with coffee/tea was lovely, and we enjoyed sitting outside as well. Great location, professional, helpful staff. We would absolutely return.

This small hotel in the Sodermalm neighborhood of Stockholm has great character and is packed with history. Although the room we stayed in was very small, it was beautifully appointed. The bathroom was tiny but exquisitely decked out. Breakfast takes place in an ancient, underground space that spoke to the history of the building. Although the small room might have led to feelings of claustrophobia, our stay was brief enough to avoid that. Still, two larger suitcases and two people pretty well filled the space!

Stockholm hotels in June are super expensive! We chose this because it had good reviews and was relatively inexpensive while still actually costing a lot. We expected a lot less for our money than we are used to getting and in many ways this was the case but what the hotel lacked in amenities, it made up for in charm.
Firstly it is a beautiful old building from the 1700's that 3 years ago became a hotel. As a result it is a lovely old building with a central courtyard and lots of character. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had a "small Double" and it really was very small. We had to manoeuvre around each other but suitcases could be stored under the bed which helped. There was a tiny wardrobe which didn't hold much but the room was pleasant and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and although there was no coffee in room, it was always available in a sunny room and free WiFi was available in rooms.
The hotel is located in an area that is working class but becoming gentrified and it is an easy walk to restaurants. It is not a long walk to the old town but is quite near a railway station if required.
I would not wish for a really long stay at this hotel because it is a bit small for me and there was not really enough room to unpack and you don't have an in room iron although one is available but it was certainly fine for a few days and well located and priced to see Stockholm.
