“Budget place with lots of naighbours”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

The best from this hostel it's location and the chance to find grate people.
Lots of rooms - so lots of people who come and go, so your stay (in dorms) depends on your naighbours. In the morning kitchen is croweded with people and it's not so easy to find a place, but after breakfast it all change
The staff is great and try to help in any situation.

this was our worst stay ever! the room was too small, we couldnt pass each other. we pay for double room and this was even small for one person!! we had one table that is attached on the wall and if you open it there is no place between table and bad so you cant reach window! bathroom ( if u can call it that) is so small, there is no bath tub only drain in the floor and brush so u can wipe off water. lavabo is so small and only one hand can stay at the time, and we have normal hands:)
it was so claustrofobic!
what to say about breakfast? there was only marmalade, butter and toast.
for the price we payed we just got slap in the face:)
the only good thing is location!
maybe other rooms are ok but this what we get is just terrible!

I stayed in a single room which was nicely decorated, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was ok and it was served in a room with a view over Stockholm harbour.

This hostel is located right in the middle of Stockholm in Gamla Stan (the old town)! Fantastic location, like 6, 7 doors down from the royal palace!! How many hostels can beat that!? This hostel is huge, the common room / kitchen was a bit busy, but what I found on my last night while looking for computer room was that it wasn't the only kitchen / common room / lounge, there were several, it's such a large place - would be worth having a good scout of the building on your first night - just don't get lost - it is like a maze! There were plenty of bathrooms, and were in very good condition - fairly new, and fairly clean baring in mind how busy and big this place is! The hostel has different price brackets of accomodation, parts where the expensive rooms were are carpeted and look good, the cheap bit where I was wasn't so plush - bare concrete etc, but it just added to the feel. It cost me around £16 a night, which included a basic breakfast (make sure you get there before 9.30am) and free pasta, which was a god send seeing how pricey Stockholm is! There's free tea and coffee - which tbh tasted minging - but it's free, so you can't complain!! On booking I got told to get there before 7pm, otherwise reception would be shut, and they'd leave my linen in reception with a note to tell me what to do, door codes etc. I wasn't meant to get to Stockholm until near 8, but my flight got in early, and managed to get a earlier bus and I rushed to the hostel (never being in Sweden / Stockholm before I did get lost) and got there about 6.30pm, to find my stuff already out, but there were about three staff members chatting in the reception, so I though I should check in normally, to be rudely told reception was shut, and said my stuff was outside. That was disappointing, and I only then found out about breakfast the next morning and nearly missed it. For me the staff let it down, and stop this hostel from being really good.

I enjoy the nice and quiet location. I had a single room with bath which was perfectly fine. You have to rent towels for 15 sek and make your bed, but that's ok. Did not test breakfast. Interesting architecture in this old buildings.

We stayed in Best Hostel Old Town for 3 night. First night we stayed in a double room in 3rd floor with my husband. The room was VERY small, it had the double bed and a chair, and no space for anything else. The other nights we stayed in 4-bed room in 4th floor with some friends. The room was spacious and the view was excellent.

Bed linen is included (even if when you book through booking.com they say it isnt), basic breakfast is offered for free (coffee/tea , milk, corn flakes, butter , jam and bread). Pasta and coffee is also offered for free through day (no milk for the coffee though).

There is free wi-fi and common computers in 2nd/3rd floor.
