Baby bears, wolves, elk were so cute! Wish I could have seen the wolverines, but they were hiding. We loved watching the bread baking demonstrations and the folk dancing. It was fun to see the different villages and types of dwellings. We enjoyed just wandering the paths and seeing where they led. My kids loved this place. It's hard to believe you're in the middle of the biggest city in Sweden, it feels totally rural inside. The sorbets and ice cream at the refreshment stand near the outdoor concert pavilion were excellent.

We found the Stockholm public transportation very easy to use. We took a bus into the center of the old city and then a tram to Skansen, there was a stop right outside the gate.

We took advantage of the nice weather and headed here with our 3 year old. It was easy to get to and we enjoyed walking around the park, seeing the animals in an almost natural setting, and watching our son play in different parts of the park. We ate at the central picnic area where there was a huge barbecue, I would suggest not wasting time in the lines and eating somewhere else in the park. There are quite a few options. A nice outing if spending more than a weekend in Stockholm since you will probably spend a good 4-5 hours here.

You must see this place
It's huge, nice, historical, fun and good for all ages
by far my favorite place in Stockholm!!

It was raining when I was there and I loved it even though, but, if you have the opportunity go on a sunny day it will be much better

watch the glass factory and eat some fresly made bread, take the tour in the zoo area to know the swedish animals and enjoy the rose gardens

just enjoy a very pleasant day!

We spent a full day in the Skansen and only saw a part of it. It is a wonderful way to experience Swedish history concentrated in 75 acres. Lots of different kinds of buildings, residences, shops, farms and architecture. The knowledgeable guides are essential to your experience. They bring the structures alive by living and dressing as the original inhabitants did. To sit and talk to them, sample the fresh made flatbread, watch a glass blower or printer in action makes the experience memorable. Add to this the wild and domestic animals - on the farms or in their natural enclosures completes the picture. Go for a few or many days.

This place is hilly!...however the views over Stockholm are amazing from the tiered gardens. Ideally take a picnic & spend the day, so much to see..open air zoo with unusual animals, see Sweden as it was in days gone by, visit the old farms, churches, shops & houses. This park has its own concert arena too, and on the day we visited there was a free concert taking place that was being televised. Lovely place...but be prepared for a lot of walking if you want to see everything!
