“Stylishly well presented”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

This was a tip from the tourist office and as it was included in the Stockholm Card we tried it and would go another time happily. Not only about the Vikings and not just for kids.

“Interesting exhibits”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Parts of the museum had great exhibits and other parts were quite ordinary. However, the Viking lunch in the cafe is really worth a go. Sitting on a bed of an ancient breed of wheat the smoked salmon and greens, radishes made a wholesome and interesting lunch!

“Under-rated museum, well worth a visit”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Part of this museum has fairly recently been redone, and it's really worth a visit. On the top floor, there's a great timeline exhibit that takes you through the history of Sweden, with a number of interactive exhibits. Be sure to get the audioguide to go with the timeline, it was well worth the $5 or so that it cost. My kids, ages 8-14, were totally engaged by this museum.

“Museum Facilities”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

I was passing the museum and looking for a disabled access loo. Since Swedish museums invariably have great facilities I decided to go in. Despite the huge flight of steps at the front there is also a small lift. Nice clean accessible loo and also found a fabulous museum shop and a cafe serving delicious food. Best of all was the garden, leading out from the cafe, where there were trees and a fountain. There was not time to visit the museum but have good memories of meal in the garden and bought nice gifts from the shop.

“Didn't Want to Leave”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

We got to the Swedish History Museum at 3:00pm and it closed at 5:00pm. That was not nearly enough time to go through this very excellant museum. We spent nearly an hour in the Viking Age wing, which was fabulous--especially after having traveled to Birka the day before. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make it back to the museum later on our trip. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to absorb this place.
