Really an amazing museum/exhibit. I thought I'd just pop in and see the ship (unbelievably preserved/restored early 17th century ship), but wound up staying for 3 hours. Take the guided tour, it's worth it. A great lesson in Swedish/European history.

We visited the Vasa Museum as part of our week long trip to Sweden, and let's be honest, seeing this piece of history was at the top of my 'to do' list. We were not disappointed. One of the many great things about the Museum is its location. When you think of the ruins of a ship you expect it to be off somewhere and difficult to get too. In this case however it's walking distance for the centre of Stockholm and the walk itself is lovely. We went to the museum as a family of three - two adults and a 7 year old boy.

Expect to queue to gain entrance. When we were there the queue was out past the entrance however it moved quickly. The Museum is extremely well done, and you cannot help but stop in your tracks once you enter the main hall and you find yourself face to face with the Vasa. It is fantastic. Tours are available however we opted to go solo. We find it better with young kids to go at our own pace. There is an abundance of information, exhibits and excellent models regarding the ship and its construction throughout the Museum.

The only criticism I could ever make is that you cannot go onto the ship. However, this is of course to be expected given it's fragile state, and it is just the big kid in me that wanted to play Pirate for just one day!

Just a fantastic Museum and a great day out. Kid's love it as their imagination's run wild when they see the scale of the ship.

Great Museum.

This museum is a must-see stop on your visit to Stockholm! Entry is free with a Stockholm Card. I found the history, sheer size and detail of the Vasa fascinating.
