This was the best of the castles I visited. There was furniture, period rooms and art. You can take as much or as little time here and it's central to many attractions. Avoid the tour groups.
Included with the Stockholm card.

Interesting as a point of comparison to other palaces such as Versailles, etc. -- one realizes how relative "luxury" can be from country to country. Of note: (1) the collection of costumes/uniforms/jewelry & decorations in the main museum, and (2) the basement museum featuring architectural dig into the original fortifications underpinning the "new" palace.

To do justice to all that there is to see really warrants a whole day. Your ticket covers not only the State and Guest appartments but also the treasury, Kroner Museum and Museum of Antiquities..the last being mostly statues. You have your ticket stamped at each venue and can visit each once at different times over 7 days if you so wish. There is so much to see it would be impossible to pick out more than a few things. The State/Guest apartments are obviously full of interest, but leave time to see the Hall of State and the baptimal font housed alongside the many royal crowns which will probably remind you of Shakespeare's plays! Don't confuse the Livustkammaren with the Palace although they are cheek by jowl. But do visit the latter (on an additional ticket) as well.

Really enjoyed the visit. Lots to keep you busy for a few hours as there is a lot to see. Changing of the guard is interesting. The architecture was amazing. Close to down town and old Stockholm which I would highly recommend visiting.

There was no orchestra on the day we come to watch the change of the guard, without orchestra the ceremony looks quite primitive.
