Owner description: Dating back to the 13th century, this church has a distinct character and history. It is the oldest in the Old Town and is home to several relics as well as an impressive statue of Saint George fighting the Dragon. Storkyrkan can pique almost anyone's curiosity, not just the history buff's.

The church is a must see whilst in Stockholm. The Gothic design of the church is stunning and this what makes it unique.

The Cathedral (Storkyrkan) is 700 years old and strikes as immediately warm and light, partly because of the tall redbrick pillars giving a lofty, airy feeling. The Baroque pulpit, two thrones, and embellishments fit in well to the original structure because the rest of the building is restrained. The surprise was the altar made of ebony and silver. Here also is the famous statue of St George and the Dragon. By chance we found that musical concerts are held here regularly, so we returned in the evening for a concert given by the choir of Norwich Cathedral (UK), including two organ pieces. A real bonus!

This is a superb church next to the Royal Palace. The restrained ( yes, gothic can be) northern gothic with red tiles is quite beautiful. This 700 year old church features several unique elements and artifacts.

The St George and the Dragon oak statue is over 500 years old and one of the finest pieces of Gothic sculpture I have seen. Spend some time looking at the details.

The decoration of the Royal pews and the pulpit is amazing and quite unlike any I had seen in the north of Europe.

There are many other pieces including the exquisite Silver Altar and Last Judgment painting as well as a rather interesting small painting of an event in the in the sky in the 1500s.

All in all well worth the visit. Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful place, and what's more, it's the oldest structure still standing in the town. My husband and I both enjoyed taking in the artistry and architecture, and we think you will, too!

It's a small cathedral near the palace. Architecture of the cathedral is impressive and interior design was beautiful crafted. Must come here after your visit to Gamla stan (Old town). Outside the cathedral you'll see the huge Obelisk. Worth a visit!!!
