Owner description: Dating back to the 13th century, this church has a distinct character and history. It is the oldest in the Old Town and is home to several relics as well as an impressive statue of Saint George fighting the Dragon. Storkyrkan can pique almost anyone's curiosity, not just the history buff's.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

This is the oldest church in Stockholm and can be found right next to the Royal Palace. There is a charge to enter the Cathedral (Storkyrken) but it is free with the Stockholm Card.

The view down the nave leads your eyes to two large ornate canopies above the two Royal boxes, and a large carved pulpit high above the pews. However, the most visited item in the church is the wooden sculpture of George and the Dragon, just to the left of the altar. Also, don't forget to look back down the nave at the marvellous organ pipe work.

“Distinctive”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

This is the oldest Cathedral in Stockholm, however there are others and while I was trying to find it people kept asking which cathedral. Well its the one near the Royal Palace which has the impressive statue of St. George. Well worth a visit

We lit a candle here. There is a fee but it was free with our Stockholm card ( we got the 24 hour card and just about broke even on it, but it saved queuing each time.)

“Stockholms best Cathedral to visit €5 entrance fee”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised when we got to this church, it was beautiful from outside. On arrival they had a fee of €5 but were keen to see inside, as it was on the top 10 for Stockholm. There is one statue that is a must to see, St George and the Dragon. This is the most photographed statue in this church, amazing.

“This is a beautiful Cathedral”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

It is a beautiful Cathedral. It is simple and nice. There is not extravigant work like in some Italian or Russian cathedrals but sometime simple is beautiful as well.

One nice thing is that it is free.

“Beautiful church”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

The church is wonderful but it also a must to do the tour to the top of the bell tower. Our guides were excellent giving lots of interesting information about the tower's history. Then the view at the top of the Old Town and Stockholm is fantastic. There are a few narrow steep stairs to climb but it is definitely worth it.
