Also known as Gamla Stan, the old town of Stockholm is packed with bars, restaurants and shops. The cobblestone streets, bridges and 16th century buildings painted in bright colors make for Instagrammable photo ops. Just a 15 minute walk from Central Station. Great for a relaxing afternoon stroll. Pop in to the many restos and bakeries for a hotdog, churros or a nice warm glass of glogg. The Slussen ferry terminal to Djurgarden is in this area too. The Nobel Museum is in Gamla Stan.

Stockholm is a city with a soul. The old city and all the islands make it interesting. That's why they call it northern Venice. It is enough to just walk and enjoy in all colors of buildings.

Here for the first time, we arrive on Saturday only for 1 day. We can visit by foot all the hills and the old town, full of colors and nice old houses, typically of this region

I just stayed here for me Stockholm short trip and it was great. It is right between the city centre and Södermalm, also Djurgarden is easy to visit from here. So it's a super good location to stay and go around.
Also it is just nice to walk around there - early in the morning and late in the evening. The sun goes up just right above the waterside, where those two bakeries are making it a great place to have breakfast. And just now it was very cosy in the evening having some Christmas lights already up.
Just nice to walk through :)

It's famous, it's popular....it's touristy. Yes, it's all that. But still the highlight in this town. The narrow and - partly - cobbled streets are a pleasure to wander around.

The Stora Nygatan - even a bit less popular and charming - is quite an interesting street with some good restaurants and less touristy shops. The Västerlånggatan then is your typical crowded - but still nice - narrow old town lane. Lots of shops - some quite interesting. Lots of souvenir shops as well. Compare prices and quality if you got some time. There's some good deals to find.

Besides the lovely streets the Stortorget (square) is another highlight in the old town. Everybody know the famous pics with the colorful buildings. And it holds up in real life as well. Makes some nice pics. Take some time and you might get a good shot, since most visitors rush through town without appreciating the views much.

We loved strolling around in Gamla Stan. If you are depending on a stroller or wheelchair some parts might be very challenging, due to the cobbled streets - some of them steep.

We had a good day and loved it very much. But also one day actually was enough to see it all, it's not that big of an area. Also if you arrive earlier in the morning you got the streets for yourself (until around 11am).

I recommend going in a free walking tour or Search on google for the history and The misteries about Gamla Stan, like The scandinavian's smallest statue, the narrowest street on earth and some more!

Beautiful place, lots to eat. I would recommend seeing the Royal Palace and Parliament for sure.

A little touristy but what do you expect. Highly recommend.

We walked through Old Town a couple times while visiting Stockholm. A nice cobblestone area with a lot of tourist shops and cafes. Worth a look and a nice place to walk through but I wouldn’t spend a lot of time here.

Shops their open relatively late! 10 or 11 but walking around the area is fun. Its touristic indeed but not as ugly kind of tourism you see in other old major cities in Europe.
Check the cathedral.. modest but beautiful.
