Description: Berns Salonger, a hotel, conference facility and nightclub, are situated in the heart of Stockholm in 19th century splendour. This is also where you'll find Berns Asiatiska, the city's first Chinese restaurant, which opened in 1944, when it was honoured with a visit from the Chinese embassy. Berns Asiatiska still strives to be an international meeting place which introduces new flavours. These days you can enjoy dishes from all the regions of Asia. At weekends an enormous brunch buffet is served and in the afternoons, you can pop in for ?yum cha? (Chinese tea) which includes dumplings and a fantastic desserts buffet. What's more, you can always watch the skilled sushi chefs at work ?live? in the restaurant.

The dining hall is really something and needs to be seen. I would go here for a drink in the bar though since the food was disappointing. Most dishes were were nonmemorable and the sweet and slut tofu had a metallic, bad taste. Dumplings were nice though, especially the vegetarian ones.

Wow, Berns has an overwhelming salon, even if its a little loud as there and the tables are pretty close to each ohter. But the waitress was so charming and help us through a huge menucard with a lot of different asian food. We had dumlping which have been absolutely wonderful (pork with ginger and nuts) and then the best meat - teasty veal with fantastic sweet poteatos... Wow! And the dessert, applesufflee.. Just good. Sadly had no space left to taste the as well tastylooking sushi... Recomend to make a reservation!

The concierge at the Nobis Hotel recommended we visit Berns if we wanted Asian Cuisine.

The building was exceptional - and old jewel, refurbished in an elegant and traditional fashion. The main dining room huge, with giant ceilings and massive chandelier's.

The menu was extensive, which was a refreshing revelation after two and a half weeks of limited Scandinavian restaurants.

The food was really good - every dish from the Dim Sum to the Sushi Rolls were great.

Our problem was the service. It was not spotty - it was downright bad.

Beginning with the fact that we were the only table in an entire section, the next group of tourists that arrived talking on a cell phone were seated at the banquet table directly next to us. There is nobody within 35 feet of our table except the German couple talking on their cell phones 24 inches from each of us. Nothing irritates me more than such thoughtless seating by the host or hostess.

Our waitress wasn't any better. At two different times I wanted to wander to wherever they were keeping our wine bottle to find if we could refill ourselves. There were huge gaps between courses and no service in between.

Our salad never arrived and when we mentioned it, was taken off our bill. What they wanted was to provide us the salad instead. It was 40 minutes from the last course - our wine was long gone - we hadn't spoken to anyone for over a half hour - our plates were removed and we wanted to get the check and leave. They wanted to give us the last dish instead. No thanks.

Bad service impacts an otherwise nice space and good food.

The brunch was very substantial with a lot of very nice Asian dishes. The sushi was very good and also the other cooked dishes. The dessert buffe was great with a variety of really good small cakes. The place is impressive and quite beautiful. The price is a bit high around 800 Kr per two persons.

I have to say: if you like special venues to eat, this is a must-see. The restaurant is located in a very old building (Berns opened its doors back in 1863), decorated with gold, high ceilings and beautiful chandeliers. The staff is friendly and helpfull; a good start for a nice dinner in Stockholm.
The way Berns sees it it that you order various smaller portions and then share them. It's a little bit like tapas, but Asian style (sushi, sashimi, dim sum etc.). Lots of smaller and bigger dishes to choose from. The quality of the food is above average, but not more than that. The funny thing is: it does not matter a lot, as there is so much to see, just looking at the ceiling, the big mirrors with changing images, the chandeliers. And the staff does give you the feeling that you're welcome, which is most important, to my opinion. The reason that I rated Berns with 3 points, is the fact that it is pricy (but Stockholm just is) and the food is not too special. Again: if you like special places and you happen to be in Stockholm, go to Berns. If you really like fancy and good food, visit one of the many other places, as there's so much to choose from.
