Unfortunately I didn't get to see the whole museum due to lack of time. So you definately need more than 2 hours.

It's located next to Stockholm University. Like most of Stockholm, it's easily accessible by metro. The Museum is worth seeing. Across the highway there is a botanical garden and a small lake. It's a very beautiful and peaceful place.

Went with three kids (aged 3yrs, 5yrs and 7yrs). We were met by a polite member of the staff at the entrance that welcomed us in English and gave us some tips for the visit. The exhibits were only translated in English, and more disappointingly those aimed at smaller children (the mineral, swedish nature the arctic etc) were NOT even translated to english EVERYTHING was in swedish only. This was extremely disappointing.
Entrance was FREE which is a huge plus if you travelling on a budget. The building is beautiful and easy access with a stroller/pram to everywhere.
Not bad for a free visit, but the lack of variety for non swedish speakers would have upset me had I paid for it.

There are nice collections of local flora and fauna and everything is arranged in approachable way, with some kids-oriented stands and exhibitions. Even if the whole building is impressive from outside and the staff is very professional and friendly (not to mention that their English is perfect), I was not impressed with the size of exhibitions and number of showpieces exposed. It is educational and it is nice that it is free of charge, however it is probably more interesting for local kids and students of different age. I am not sure if it should be considered as a destination for the tourists visiting Stockholm.

They have a huge collection of so many species, both mounted animals as skeletons.
the animals are beautifully preserved and are in a natural position.
The museum is split up into different parts and they are all breathtaking...
There's a mammoth, whales, polar bear, lion, even dinosaurs ...
From squirrel, bat, hedgehog to fighting wolf, bear and majestic moose
There are also various extinct species on display.
Highly recommended and fun garanteed for the kids as well as parents / couples
We were surprised that such a large, beautiful museum does not ask for an entrance fee. We spent about 2,5h to get through

This is a great museum, with a large collection including a couple of standout rarities, a Quaggga and a Thylacine.

We were recommended to visit this museum while we were staying in Stockholm. Its just a short tube ride from the centre and free to visit.
Lovely historic building with excellent exhibits over several floors. There is a cafe and places to sit as you walk around. Loved the dinosaur displays!
Lots of interactive things if you have children with you and most displays have english translations. Really enjoyed our visit.

If you are interested in the nature and history this is the right place to visit. It is interesting for all ages, staff is friendly and the exhibitions are presented in an interesting way.

The iMax Cosmonova is a must-visit, tip is to look up the time table for the various movies before hand.

The Swedish as a Nation are are very proud, every place I visited whilst in Stockholm was clean, well organised, had friendly staff and visitors are made very welcome. This Natural History museum is a fine example.
